to say yn has been walking on clouds for the past few days is an understatement.to everyone around her, she always seemed happy, it was rare to see her frowning without a good reason or being mean just for the sake of being mean. she even looked naive at times, brushing off people's behavior with a smile when they clearly intended to hurt her.
for someone who didn't know her well, she was just as happy as she had always been, maybe a bit more, but it wasn't anything groundbreaking.
but for mika? yn was acting so differently. she was so happy that she agreed to spend time with both her and her boyfriend! and she never did that!
yn always used the excuse that she didn't want to take away their time together, which was clearly a cover for 'you two are so in love that i can't look at you without feeling bad about not having what you have'. mika knew few people who would be upset with yn for feeling that way, but after three years of friendship, she knew she was happier for them than anyone else.
how could she be mad at her when all yn wanted to do was be happy too?
they spent a lot of time together, and yn was always there for her when she needed to talk about her relationship, and she never made her feel bad about it. she was simply preserving her peace by avoiding spending time alone with the two of them.
even daishō, who didn't know yn as well as mika, though it felt like he did because of how much mika was saying about her, was surprised when she agreed to go with them to the coffee shop.
"i love seeing you so happy," mika said, wiping the whipped cream moustache from her face with the tissue that daishō handed her.
"she's the only happy one," he huffed. "the rest of us are miserable because we can't write things like that, and now that the entire campus and probably half of the internet has seen it, everyone wants that kind of confession," he said, half joking and half seriously stressing that mika will want him to do something like that one day. he wasn't very good with words, especially shakespearean ones.
yn rolled her eyes, but she still had a smile on her face.
the poem written for her spread throughout the campus, and she even saw it on the internet, with someone writing a whole story about her having a secret admirer. it was flattering, she had to admit, especially the comments about how she deserved to have literal poetry written about her.
with the popularity of confession, came a few guys who tried to convince her it was them. for the first time in a long time, yn turned down a date invitation. she knew it wasn't any of them, it was a gut feeling, and she decided to follow it.
"i don't," mika said with a soft smile, and daishō immediately softened.
"thank goodness, because i barely understood what that thing even meant."
"you lack interpretation skills," yn chuckled, placing her milkshake on the table.
"do you know who wrote it?" mika asked, almost standing up out of excitement. dhe'd love to know who it was.
"no," yn simply replied.
"are you doing any kind of private investigation?"
"no."
"why?!"
daishō placed a hand on his girlfriend's back to remind her that they were in a public place and she should keep it a little quieter. mika blushed slightly and crossed her arms over her chest. she hated when people stared.
"i'm going to let it be and wait," yn said, swirling the straw in her drink. "maybe it is just one poem, right? I don't want to pressure anyone to write more or scare them away by looking for them. they did it that way because they wanted to stay anonymous, and i respect that."
to be honest, she would love to know who it was, to get inside their head and learn about all of their intentions and thoughts about her. however, she always dove headfirst into everything, regardless of how shallow the water was. this time, something like a dream come true happened to her, and she didn't want to ruin it like everything else by overthinking about it and overdoing it.
"was your last game really so bad, daishō?" yn asked that the conversation shift away from her. there was nothing better than asking a volleyball enthusiast about it to achieve this. "it's been like a week and aran is still whining that he's sore."
"daishō's still hurting too after that awful drill!"
okay, maybe there was a better way to achieve that: talk about mika's boyfriend, about who she could talk about for hours.
