two years ago...
bars were not akaashi's scene. he felt like an intruder inside, knowing that he isn't officially eighteen yet and won't be for the rest of the year due to the late birthday, but bokuto assured him that it would be the ideal place to celebrate his graduation.
since bokuto began his 'college life', the bar has been a constant topic in their conversations. bokuto described it as a place where almost only students, especially those from his university, crowded, so he wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.
he felt like a sore thumb, aching with embarrassment caused by being in a crowd that wasn't his.
"beer?" the girl behind the bar asked, drawing his attention away from jumping all over the place.
"i'm sorry?" he said, pushing his glasses up on his nose bridge.
"you look lost, thought i could give you a hand in picking." she smiled widely at him. "you look like a beer guy," she explained, as if six words were enough. she threw a washcloth at the other guy behind the bar before reaching for the bottle. "here you go," she said, alongside the sound of glass pushed against a wooden countertop.
a displeased hum escaped his lips.
"thanks," he said with a forced smile.
he had no experience with alcohol, he had only tasted wine once and drank two beers in his life, which was enough to determine that he was not a fan of such drinks. his stomach hurt every time he drank one of those awful beers, and they left an unpleasant aftertaste in his mouth.
"so, you're waiting for someone?" the girl asked, leaning on her elbows against the bar with another smile on her lips.
akaashi sat upright on his stool, blinking at her. he wasn't confused, he assumed it was an attempt to flirt, but she just gave him a beer without checking his age, and he wasn't interested in matching her attitude.
a sudden movement next to them easily distracted the staff member's attention. he looked to the left, where another girl had taken a seat. she placed her hands on her cheeks, as if to cool them down, and her breaths were quick, like she was ran there. she gave him a quick smile to acknowledge his presence next to her before waving to the guy behind the bar.
"cosmopolitan, please," she asked.
"you gotta try something else someday," he chuckled as he moved to prepare a drink for her.
"i like my drink sweet and sour," she replied, taking off her coat.
akaashi glanced at the doors, which were too bokutoless for his liking. he wasn't late, it was him who was too early. going back to his drink with his eyes, he caught a glimpse of a revealing top on the girl next to him, which caused him to return his gaze to his beer even quicker.
a sweet and sour drink would be fantastic compared to this bitter liquid.
"the time has come!"
he probably jumped in his seat when a voice came through the speakers inside the bars, interrupting the music he was enjoying. it was something that piqued his interest, it wasn't club-like music, not that he had experience with club music, but he had imagination. music inside the bar was cool and casual. but it ended with a guy stepping onto a stage, which akaashi assumed was for live bands. because there was so much space, it only made sense that the bar would have a section set aside for live bands to perform during small concerts.
