yn's thoughts were reduced to two topics.

the first one was obvious: the poem. with the first two pieces, she placed them in a box with her memories. she'd kept almost everything cool there since the day she moved to tokyo. her last trinket box was still in kobe, filled with souvenirs from her travels and everything she had collected with her friends throughout high school. it felt too fragile to transport to her new apartment when she began university, so she decided to start over, separating the obvious chapters in her life.

but the third poem, because of the small flower, felt like it needed to be displayed.

that's why yn now had a photo frame in her bag. she went shopping quickly before meeting aran at their favourite café. the ice tea, which was still on the menu despite the fact that it was february, was already on the table, waiting for her friend, along her sweet milkshake.

aran told her that they needed to talk, which was stressful, but it wasn't the second thing on her mind. because nothing aran could say would be too much for them to handle together.

akaashi was the second thought that kept going around in her head. yn couldn't stop thinking about those few seconds when his gaze rested on her lips. she could almost feel the heat on them from his gaze. the sudden fluttering in her stomach when he raised his eyes to look into hers, mind still somewhere else, didn't help to calm her thoughts.

yn felt stupid for giving these thoughts any space in her mind.

akaashi was a friend, and if she learned anything about herself from her dating experiences, it was that she was terrible at dating. three dates was the average before she ruined everything, so even the thought of doing anything with akaashi made her head ache. she would not only make everything awkward, because it was always awkward in friend groups when people began to crush on each other, right? but she would also risk her blossoming friendship with akaashi. she really liked him. he was such a nice guy, always helpful and attentive, nothing weird that one, most likely unintentional, look on her lips made her think about all of it.

'get it together, girl.'

"earth to yn," aran said. she hadn't even noticed him walk through the doors, and she had been staring at them for the past few minutes.

'get it together, girl!'

"sorry, i was just," she shrugged her shoulders without finishing the sentence.

"thinking 'bout that poem?" he offered her an explanation.

"yeah," she chuckled, taking her cup in hand. "i wanted to say it was my favourite, but i'm not sure i can choose. what did you want to talk about?

"woah, straight to the point," he said, laughing nervously. yn didn't like that. "why did you text me about going pro yesterday?" he asked, drinking his tea quickly after.
