Third Person P.O.V

Enid sat far away from the shifter, nervously picking at the skin around her nails as she would glance at Y/n from time to time.

The girl began shifting again, this time it seemed to be some kind of furry creature and a big one at that.

Enid was nervous, she wasn't sure what to do. What if Y/n shifts fully and doesn't recognize her? Last time she shifted Wednesday was here to calm her down immediately but the small goth isn't here right now...

The sound of bones cracking and pained groans could be heard coming from Y/n, the girl was hiding under her blankets as the shift began to fully happen.

Enid watched in fear as the lump under the blankets began to grow bigger by the second, the pained groans sounding more like growls and grunts than actually human noises.

Then it was silent, the only sound heard after was the panting of Y/n and Enid's quickened heartbeat.

A gravely growl is heard from under the comforter. Enid freezes, knowing that whatever the beast was it was truly Y/n but the fear she felt at the sound of a growl reminded heer of her first time wolfing out.

The pain, the fear of the unknown. Would she be big enough, would she look scary enough, would she be strong enough...

...Could she protect Wednesday if neccesary?...

The self doubt and the fear of rejection...

Then comes a loud knock at the dorm door.

"Enid?" Sounds the monotonous voice of Wednesday, she had come back at the perfect time.

Enid quickly rushes up from her spot on the floor, opening the dorm door to see Wednesday with her usual stoic expression.

The she-wolf looks behind the short Addams to see her best friend, Yoko, a wide fang filled grin on her face.

"She shifted again..."

Enid mutters to Wednesday and watches as the seer darts past her with a low hum, going towards Y/n immediately.

Enid looks back towards Yoko with a look of confusion and the vampire waves the girl to come out the room. Enid glances over her shoulder, back into the darkly themed dorm room and sees Wednesday with her hand on the lump of covers, she feels a pang sting at her heart but says nothing as she steps out the door, closing it behind her.

"What are you doing here Yoko?" Enid questions, letting out a small yelp as Yoko grabs her arm and drags her farther from the dorm door, a bit down the corridor.

"Sorry E but I thought you'd really like to know this before anyone else does..."

Ykok says, a bit of excitement in her voice a a smug grin on her face, like she knew something Enid didn't.

The young werewolf crosses her arms and looks at Yoko with furrowed brows.

"What is it?" She asks softly, slight concern in her voice at what Yoko could possibly know that urged her to come with Wednesday of all people to Y/n's dorm.

"When you're near Wednesday and Y/n, what smell would you say they most have in common?" Yoko asks, her tone almost playful as she awaits Enid's answer.

The shorter girl takes a moment to think.

Wednesday smelled of book pages and freshly made ink, and almost earthy scent while Y/n smelled like spring, freshly bloomed flowers with a twist of humid smelling air, not the gross murky smell but the smell right before it begins to rain.

"I don't know...they smell different..."

Enid mutters, still trying to think of what they could equally smell like.

"I mean yeah but when you're around both of them, what do you smell?" Yoko questions with a raised brow.

Enid hums before shrugging with a slightly scrunched nose as she thinks back to the times all three of them were together.

"Vanilla?"

She says in a confusion, not sure if that's the answer she should go with.

"I fucking knew it!" Yoko cheers, a gleeful laugh sprouting from her lips as she wraps an arm around Enid's shoulders.

"You knew what?" The cotton candy colored girl asks in confusion, still not knowing what was happening.

"You, my adorable little wolf pup, have dual soulmates!" Yoko cheers, a happy smile on her face as she waits for Enid's reaction, her face dropping slightly when she doesn't see Enid is as excited as she is.

"Why aren't you smiling? What's wrong?" Yoko asks softly, concern crossing her face as she looks at her friend.

"What does that mean? Dual soulmates?"

Yoko hums for a moment, trying to think of a way to explain it to Enid.

"It basically means you have two soulmates, your heart and soul determined that your original soulmate wouldn't be able to give you all the love that you needed and so your heart and soul left half of themselves empty, one half full of your first soulmate and the other half empty for when you met your second soulmate, the one that would complete your soul fully"

Yoko explains briefly, it was obvious there was more to it than simply that but even that bit of information left Enid bewildered.

"But I'm supposed to have a mate...not a soulmate..." The confusion in Enid's voice was very obvious, confusion and disbelief written in her face.

She could feel her lungs begin to clench, her palms growing clammy as they tightly squeezed around handfuls of her colorful sweater.

Nothing made sense anymore. Enid was told her whole life that she would meet some strong and capable werewolf and fall in love with him, become the mother of his cubs, and live happily ever after.

Everything began to feel like it was too loud, too quiet, too hot, too cold.

So why now...

Her clothes felt itchy in her body, uncomfortable, too loose, too tight.

Why now was it something different...

She couldn't breathe, tears pricking at the corners of her eyes as they glaze over in a panic, her pupils dialing.

"H-how do you know this is real and not some myth or legend!? How are you so sure?!"

Enid asks in a panic, her tone loud and rushed, breathy in hyperventilation as she felt a panic attack begin to arise.

Her claws had shown themselves, digging into her palms as she holds the clenched fists to her chest, feeling her rushing heartbeat and shaking body.

"En id, he y   h  ey    lo ok  at  m  e... L ook   a  t   me   br  e  a  th"

She couldn't hear anything but the rushing of her pulse in her ears, she could feel her pulse in her head, in her finger tips.

Yoko's words fell on deaf ears as the panic got worse.

And suddenly Enid collapsed, her eyes rolled back in shock and her body limp as her legs gave out under her.
