"Cargo has arrived" Erica says through the Walkman "I repeat, cargo has arrived. They're taking them into a barracks second from the library."
For the past few hours, Asher had been sat on the couch with Derek, stealing whatever snacks he could. Derek reminded Asher a lot of a younger him... only if Asher had grown up rich instead of poor. Asher wanted to protect Derek as much as possible, especially since they were the ones who dragged him into this situation in the first place.
"Tunnels" Joyce mentions, turning on the projector, showing the map of Hawkins "Yeah, see? The north tunnel of the Mac-Z runs right underneath the barracks."
"Lucky break" Lucas comments.
"We're gonna need a lot more luck if we want this plan to work" Mike tells Lucas "If we're right, the military is trying to protect these kids. So this barracks is going to be heavily guarded. We have to dig up into the barracks, unnoticed, grab the kids, get them to Murray, smuggle them out of Hawkins."
"You're making this sound like a child selling sort of thing, Michael" Asher comments, with a mouth full of food.
"Ash, just be quiet" Mike scoffs "The adults are talking and we seriously don't need comments like that right now."
"I'm more of an adult than you! I'm eighteen next month!" Asher argues back.
"Yet you act like a five year old who just learnt how to swear" Mike argues back.
"All before anyone notices they're gone" Will comments, stopping the argument between Mike and Asher.
"Dick" Robin mutters out, making everyone look over at her "What? Sorry, did I say that out loud? I thought I was talking in my head. But you guys know Tom, Dick and Harry, right?" Robin asks, making everyone stay silent "Seriously? None of you have seen The Great Escape? Well, basically, it's about these POWs, right? And they're stuck in a barracks just like this one. And they need to escape, so they dig these tunnels, and they call their tunnels Tom, Dick and Harry. They have to hide from the tunnels from the Nazis. So they put Tom in this dark corner, and they put Harry under the stove, and they put Dick in this washroom. And personally, for us, I like Dick."
"Robin, rethink what you just said" Asher comments with a laugh.
"Oh, um, sorry. The washroom. I actually don't even... nevermind" Robin quickly apologises.
"Okay, say we go with Dick" Joyce says "How do we find the washroom?"
"And how do we get the kids to it?" Will also asks.
"I could diguse myself" Asher pipes up, making the group look over at him "Dress like I'm in the military, walk in there, get the kids to the washroom. Easy."
"I don't think you'd be able to pass being in the military" Lucas mentions, making Asher look over at him with a hurt expression on his face "Sorry."
"How do we know which kids to kidnap and smuggle?" Asher asks "What if we smuggle the wrong kids?"
"We use an inside man. Someone who could get into the barracks, measure the distance of the washroom, find out which kids have seen Mr Whatsit, and somehow avoid the military" Mike suggests.
"Well, that's a lovely plan, but isn't it a tad--" Robin goes to say.
"Mission impossible-ly" Lucas finishes the sentence.
"Yeah, I mean, Mike, who are you going to get to do this?" Robin asks "Bond?"
"No, no, we don't want a superspy" Mike explains "We want the opposite. We want someone who no one will suspect. Someone that could just walk in, no questions asked. The one kid the military failed to wrangle" Mike describes, making everyone look at Derek, who is busy munching on Doritos, not even paying attention to the conversation.
"What?" Derek asks, realising that all eyes are on him.
"Seriously? This dickhead?" Asher asks, pointing at Derek "Yeah, no. We've already put him through enough."
"He's our only option" Mike sighs "We have no other choice."
