A week later_
I paused in the street and glanced around for a moment.
Weird.
Feels like I'm being watched.
I just stared forward for a moment before shrugging and continuing to walk forward. I was currently on my patrol for the day, alone this time because we're low on sidekicks but honestly, I've never had issue with it, so this was weird. Maybe I'm just imaging it. I've been feeling pretty tense lately so that's quite possibly the issue.
A low 'um' came from behind me, making me jump slightly and I turned fully prepared to be attacked just to find Tamaki stood there awkwardly.
"Jeez, Tamaki! Where the hell did you pop up from?!" I let out a low breath before turning to him fully and lowing my hands back down to my side. The support third years came by last week, the day after the meeting with Nighteye and the other heroes, to give me my new arm. It was cool, I didn't really understand what they were talking about in terms of the upgrades I'd been given but it works exactly the same as the other one it's just 'more fire resistant and durable' as they said.
Tamaki just frowned and looked away and I went to reach out but stopped and glanced off to the side, tucking my hands behind my back as I let out a small sigh.
"What're you doing here, Tamaki? You should be in class," I told him.
"And you," he returned, "why aren't you coming back to school?"
"I can't go back yet," I told him as I heard my phone buzzing and pulled it out. My alarm for the max time I could be out alone was going off, so I started to walk. I need to finish my route and head back. Tamaki hurried after me.
"Why can't you come back?" he asked.
Why is he following me? No—why is he here? It's safer in UA.
"It's chaos because my Dad is missing," I told him, "they need all the hands we can get, especially because a good chunk of our sidekicks are out of commission right now."
"Saisei!" a kid came charging over to us and I smiled before kneeling to his height.
"Hey, kid," I greeted him, forcing on my usual warm public appearance for the boy, "what's up?"
"I watched your battle against that burning guy last year," he excitedly exclaimed, "you're so cool! I want to be just like you when I grow up!"
"Oh yeah?" I raised a brow playfully before poking his arm slightly, "make sure you keep all limbs though, yeah?"
"But your robot arm is so cool!" he beamed.
"It is isn't it?" I nodded before pointing at it, "but I'm not at my best strength missing one arm like you are with both now so keep your limbs in tact, right?"
"Fine..." he let out a low grumble before looking at Tamaki, "you look familiar..."
"Takauchi!" before Tamaki could get a word out, a woman came flying around the corner and rushed over to us, "what have I told you about running off without me? You're going to get yourself hurt or lost if you keep on with this."
"But it's Saisei, mum!" the boy, Takauchi, whined.
"I don't care if it's All Might or God themselves, you do not run off alone," she took his hand before looking at me as I stood up again, "so sorry for this."
"No, no," I shook my head with a smile, "it's nice to talk to the civilians sometimes. A good refreshing moment."
She just smiled weakly at me before turning again and pulling her son across the road, scolding him as she went.
