The weekend came in the refreshing season of autumn. Most people are out to see the changing sights of trees and feel the crisp air. Since it's the weekend, the streets are full, and every corner is a picture-perfect spot.
The Song family is equally appreciating the new glide of the season. Yushi is even on their patio, painting the orange palette of their backyard. While Bora was cooking lunch, Sulhee came down the stairs with Daehoon on her arms, all dressed up. Today is grocery day, the baby's favorite day.
"Are you coming home for lunch?" Bora asks from the kitchen.
"No, mom, we'll be eating lunch with Jeno. He'll buy groceries with us."
"Okay, take care!"
"Yeah!"
Sulhee placed Daehoon on the stroller and double-checked the things inside her bag. When she made sure that she hadn't forgotten anything, a honk resonated in perfect timing.
Jeno immediately helped Sulhee with the stroller when they went out of the house. He also opened the passenger's seat for them, then quickly rounded to the driver's seat, where he played with the baby for a few moments.
"What's my name again? Jeno. Je-no."
"Nono!" Daehoon giggled while pointing at the man. Sulhee laughed.
"Fine, at least you remember me."
"This competition is going on forever," Sulhee said.
"I'll take my chances. I'll make sure Daehoon comes to me first when he has problems in school," Jeno replied.
"Isn't it supposed to be his dad?"
Jeno didn't answer immediately and fell silent for a few seconds. He only chuckled and started focusing on the road when they got to the highway. "Of course, Chenle should know it first. But I also want to be that uncle of my friends' children whom they can comfortably talk to if they want."
"That's nice, Jen. Thanks for offering such kindness to my son."
"We're friends, Sulhee. Even if I got to know you too late, you and Karina still treat me equally."
"That's because you're nice to us too. You're not rude, and you're humble. You got to be close with mom and Yushi, and even our other friends too. See? You're worthy of our kindness."
"So if I were a jerk, would you ignore me?"
"I will kick you out of the company."
They laughed at it. Jeno stole a glance at her for a moment, seeing her smiling widely while the baby was playing with her hands. The omega seemed aware of his gaze that she turned to face him, resulting in Jeno averting his eyes back to the road quickly.
