"1, 2"

"1, 2, 3. Owwwwwwwwwwwwww!"

I grinned at Gregg who was shaking his head at me in exasperation. I stuck my tongue out at him and continued the song.

Laughing to myself at the surreal situation. I had met Gregg Alexander, former lead singer of The New Radicals many years ago when me and my best mate Adam had been trying to form a band.

We'd been put in touch with him by our record company manager who had wanted him to help us write a few songs for the album.

Unfortunately the album hadn't gotten off the ground but Adam and I had remained friends with Gregg and often went to visit him if we were in the United States.

I was in LA with Adam on a holiday when we'd met up with Gregg again and a chain of events had started that would set out the rest of my life.

But I hadn't known it at the time.

Now here I was with one of my best mates in my hometown, singing his most famous song on karaoke, whilst he was looking at me like I was a lunatic.

"Love ya" I mouthed at him as he continued to shake his head at me.

If you feel your dreams are dying hold tight

You've got the music in you

Don't let go

You've got the music in you

One dance left

This world is gonna pull through

Don't give up

You've got a reason to live

Can't forget

We only get what we give

I'm coming home baby

You're the tops

Suddenly the pub was going mental as Gregg was up on the stage next to me, just in time to grab a mic, look at me and synchronise with me on the line:

Give it to me now!

I fought laughter and grinned at my husband who was sat at a table near the stage, now by himself and was looking back and forth between me and Gregg and shaking his head in despair.

"That was genius love" I said to Gregg holding the mic away from me, "we couldn't have planned it better"

"Hubby thinks we've lost it though"

"Vic, we lost it a long time ago love!" I shoved him and grinned at the cheer we got as we as we launched into the next verse.
