"There". I gasped, hanging on the wardrobe was the most beautiful deep purple silk dress. "Oh Rick, I don't know what to say..." I said.
"Don't say anything" he winked at me, "just make yourself look gorgeous"
"I mean, even more gorgeous than you are already, obviously" he said and I laughed.
"Wait a minute, I don't have any.."
"Shoes?" Rick asked and I nodded. "Have a look under the bed" I looked at him curiously, then did as I was told. There was a beige shoe box under the bed with a familiar looking signature scrawled across the top, and a deep purple bow tied around it.
I knelt on the floor pulled the box out and pulled the bow gently to unfasten it. I removed the lid from the box and gasped again as I saw the dark purple patent shoes with the distinctive red soles. "You bought me louboutins!" I squealed. Rick laughed at my reaction.
I picked one up and admired it, they were deep purple but looked almost black in some light, they were stunning. "Oh Rick" I said, a lump forming in my throat as I tried not to cry, no one had ever bought me something so lovely.
"Hey, don't cry Vic" he was suddenly kneeling on the floor beside me, his face inches from mine, "I'm sorry" he said, "I just wanted to apologise for being such a..."
"Ssssh" I said quietly. "It's ok. I know you are. It's just no-one ever bought me something so nice" I sniffed.
"Oh Vic" he said laughing quietly as he put his arms around me. "you deserve it" he said and kissed my forehead, he let me go and got up offering me his hand. I took it and helped me up from the floor, he wrapped his arms around me and gazed into my eyes.
I swallowed, "Rick, we need to..." I was flustered by the way he was looking at me. "I need to get re-"
"Plenty of time for that" he said before kissing me passionately. "I thought you said.."
"They can wait" he murmured kissing me again.
The driver wasn't too impressed when we strolled out of Rick's over an hour later, hand in hand, but he was professional and didn't say a word.
He'd probably just charge us double!
"Where are we going anyway" I asked Rick as the driver started the engine. "That's for me to know, and you to find out" he said with a grin. I scowled at him which just made his grin wider.
"Vic you look stunning by the way"
"Thank you" I blushed. I'd gotten dressed in record time, having eventually gotten off put of bed, where we'd found ourselves - again.
The dress did, as Rick said, look stunning. It fitted perfectly, and was just the right length to show a little bit of thigh, without being too revealing. I had decent legs anyway but added with the louboutins (which also fit perfectly) my legs seemed to go on forever.
I knew this because Rick couldn't stop staring at them. And it felt good to be desired. It had been a long time since I'd felt that. But I have to say, the feeling was mutual. Rick if possible looked even sexier now that his hair had been slightly mussed up.
Which was nothing to do with me...obviously.
We pulled up about half an hour later outside the Merrion hotel in Dublin city centre, which I knew was home to Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, one of the most amazing (and expensive) restaurants around.
Now I knew we were definitely celebrating..
The driver stopped the car and got out to open the door for me. "Thank you" I said, whilst quietly thinking I could get used to this. I had forgotten how record companies treated everyone like celebrities, even their song writers.
It was a shame publishing houses weren't the same for us authors. "Sir" he nodded at Rick as he got out the car behind me. "Thank you Miles" he said. "Will you pick us up as arranged?"
"Certainly sir"
"Thank you"
