I hung up the call, and put my phone back in my pocket. I rummaged in my bag for my keys, unlocked the hire car and jumped in. I drove as fast as I could back to the hotel without actually breaking any speed limits, parked my car in something that resembled a space and made my way as fast as I could up to the sixth floor.
I stopped outside Stephen's room and took a deep breath before knocking on the door.
"Who is it?"
I coughed. I hadn't expected Ronan to come to the door. Unless of course, Stephen had sent him....
"Room Service" I said in a posh voice.
"Room Service? Sure we didn't..." I could hear him muttering but fiddling with the door handle anyway. I heard the door open and swallowed. "Vic what...?"
He still looked angry with me. I crumpled and burst into tears again. "Hey" his expression softened and I felt him put his arms around me. "Don't cry"
"I'm sorry Vic. I was in shock, come in and we'll talk about it ok?"
I mumbled a yes into his chest and allowed him to pull me into the room with him. "Steo?" "Any chance you could give us a sec" Stephen looked like he was about to protest, but then he caught sight of me and nodded. "You guys want anything from the shop?"
"No thanks"
Ronan waited until Stephen had left the room before sitting down on the sofa and pulling me onto his lap. "I'm so sorry Ronan" I whispered softly.
"Oh Vic.." he said tightening his grip around me.
"It's me who should be sorry"
"I...I think I just panicked back there. It's just a bit of a shock. I mean..."
"I'm not saying I don't want to be a father – again. I just..."
"Didn't expect it so soon?"
He nodded. "I..."
"I guess we should been a bit more careful" I said with a wry smile.
"I guess so..." he grinned. "Not my fault your so irresistible" he said his breath close to my ear. I shivered and he laughed seductively. He put his hand over mine then placed it gently on my flat stomach. "So we're going to be mummy and daddy Keating soon?" he asked.
I nodded, not really registering what he was saying. "But Ro..."
"What if it's not ours?" I whispered, not sure I wanted to know the answer.
"I've been thinking about that Vic, that's why I left in such a hurry. I needed to think"
"I'm sorry"
I just nodded, I didn't want his apology, I just wanted him to tell me that it was going to be okay. I waited impatiently for him to continue.
"If it's not, then I would want Mick to be involved"
"I wouldn't stand in the way..."
"That's basically what he said..."
"So we're all happy?"
"I guess" I said finally smiling.
"Good" he said and leant forward slightly and kissed me lingeringly.
"Vic, I think I lo-" He never finished what he was going to say as we heard the sound of a key card in the lock and jumped apart like naughty teenagers.
