When we got back from Paris, I went straight back into the office with Gregg. Apparently there had been a deadline on the album (and we had missed it), so we were in trouble with the record company. So I spent most of my days, and some nights, with Gregg. Mike began to feel a little neglected and started writing his own songs again.
As a consequence we rarely saw each other. And our weekend in Paris, which should have been the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Was really, the nail in the coffin..
And so, it wasn't long after that weekend, that me and Mikey decided to call it a day.
The fact that I spent all my days in the studio, and had decided to try and start writing my book again, meant that I had little spare time to see him. I loved him. But it just didn't seem fair on him.
And I knew in my heart, every time I saw him, and his blonde hair, that I'd fallen for Ronan. Had done so, a long time ago.
It really didn't help, that, whilst me and Mike had been in Paris, Ronan had spent a more days in the studio with Gregg, and had become more or less a permanent fixture.
So I was seeing less of Mikey, and more of Ronan and the temptation was staring me in the face.
I think Mike sensed there was something wrong. I don't think he knew that I fancied Ro. Or at least, if he did he was gentleman enough not to make a big deal out of it. But he could sense that I was slipping away from him.
So we broke up, but vowed to remain friends. We also vowed to keep it quiet for a while, or at least until the album was written and we could all get on with our own life's again.
He remains to this day, one of the best friends I have ever had.
