D'arrica's POV
"Landin answer this fucking phone or I swear to god I won't be here when you get back!" I shouted into the microphone as I left the 7th voicemail on his phone.
I sat on the couch trying my hardest not to let my anger get the best of me but it wasn't working. As I pet baby I couldn't help but wonder where my boyfriend went. After I called the 4th I noticed he turned his location off, leaving me with his last known location which happened to be Tina's house.
As the phone rang out I petted baby on her belly, listening to her soft purrs. The line clicked indicating that she had indeed answered.
"Hey, Tina. I'm sorry to bother you but have you seen Landin?" I questioned as I subconsciously gnawed away at my fingernails.
"Hey, sweetie pie!" She greeted sounding very happy. "He just left, is everything ok?"
Her tone changed and I had to decide if I wanted her in our business or not. On one hand, she might know where he went and if I explained what just happened she would immediately get him back home for me. But on the other hand, I genuinely didn't want her or anyone else in our business.
What if Landin was out cheating on me? I hated to admit it but I wasn't sure if I had the will to leave him. I loved Landin with my whole being and he's all I've ever known. I didn't wanna think about these things but I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that he was out doing me wrong.
"It's fine. E just woke up from his nap and was asking for him is all."
"Oh, I can call him for you. You can't get ahold of him?"
"No." I sighed. "I think his phone died."
"Well, he said he had some business to handle on the south side tonight so I'm sure he will be back home soon. You know he doesn't like being over there." She laughed.
I had to force a chuckle as I got off the phone. "Right, well thanks anyway mama, I'll talk to you later."
"Goodnight to you and my grandbaby. Come over sometime... I haven't seen my stinker in a while."
"I know and that's on me. I've been so busy with work and everything but we'll be over there soon, I promise."
"I'll hold you to that."
We shared another small laugh before I finally hung up, immediately tossing on my shoes and jacket. I made sure baby's bowls were filled before slowly creeping into Elijah's to see him sleeping peacefully in his Spider-Man bed. My baby could sleep through anything, just like his mama.
I made sure not to wake him as I swept him from the bed placing his north face coat on him. After zipping the coat and making sure his slippers and beanie were secure on his head and feet, we were out the door.
After getting my son situated and warming the car up, I pulled off going towards the south side.
Landin had no business being on this side of town because that's where his opps stayed. The only thing that could be over there was a bitch. I hoped for his sake it wasn't, but there was literally no other excuse for him to be on this side of town willingly.
He used to come here and start problems but after he got grazed by a bullet I was able to convince him to stop. I was pregnant at the time and wasn't trying to raise our son alone. Remembering those times had my stomach turning because if that's what he was doing, then it was too dangerous for me and my baby to be looking for him. But I needed to know where he was and what he was doing.
Once I was stopped at a red light I had a second to think. Maybe I was doing too much. What if Landin was home right now wondering where me and Elijah were? No, he would've called if that was the case. And he left Tina's not even an hour ago, so he had to still be "handling business" whatever that meant.
