Lee's POV
"E, be careful, baby!" D cuffed her mouth as she shouted to her son.
We were carefully trotting down the cobblestone hill at the zoo. It was a perfect September day with the sun out but the blowing wind made the temperature lovely. It wasn't too hot or cold and surprisingly, it wasn't super packed today.
"Why you put them nice shoes on him anyway?" Aniyah asked as she started a slight jog to catch up to her little cousin.
"Because he's fly, bitch!" She sassed back.
We both laughed as we saw Aniyah scoop the toddler up, his laughter echoed through the air. Once the stroller carrying the twins was back on leveled ground, I was able to speed up and catch up to the rest of the group.
"You should've put running shoes on him, he's gone mess up the kicks I just bought." Aniyah stressed as she let him back down, taking his small hand in hers as we continued our journey.
"How bout you shut up?" D joked before bending down to her son's level.
"You like your new shoes?"
"Yes!" He nodded excitedly.
"Good, so stop running off or you'll fall and ruin them and we can't do that because we're going out with granny later, ok?"
"Ok, mommy."
I smiled at the two loving the sight of their relationship being back to normal. D was slowly becoming herself again and it seemed that since Landin was back in his life, E was back to being a little ball of sunshine. He kept his high energy as he skipped alongside Aniyah. He looked adorable in his light true religion shorts, orange polo t-shirt, and matching orange and grey new balances.
"Is that a smile I see?" D wrapped her arm around my shoulder as we stopped at a bench.
We both took a seat just as Elijah got excited seeing we were next to the lion exhibit. "Oouuu, mommy, look! Can we see da lions?!" He shrieked.
"Give me a second baby mama's feet hurt."
"I'll take him." Aniyah offered.
D nodded in approval and the two walked off just as Legend began to fuss. I pulled the cover back on the stroller to see him with his little face twisted up.
"What's the matter, budda?" I picked him up letting him relax in my lap.
Once I gave him his pacifier he was ok as he now was eyeing everyone who walked past our spot.
"I'm glad you came out with us today." D announced. "And I'm happy you're having fun."
"Oh, please." I scoffed. "I know Lester put you up to this." I pursed my lips as I gave her my full attention.
Her cheeks flushed red but she quickly masked her expression although we both knew she was caught. "What are you talking about?"
"You think I don't know he told you and Aniyah to watch over me while he's outta town?"
"Well, can you blame him, Leelee? We haven't seen you since the funeral. He just wanted to make sure you were ok while he's gone because you never leave the apartment."
"Because I've been grieving, D?" I sighed, holding Legend close to my chest. "But I'm fine, y'all don't need to watch over me like some child."
"We're not!" She reassured. "Trust me, he wanted us guarding the apartment like the CIA or some shit, I told him to chill out and we'll take you out to see how you're feeling."
