Lester's POV

"Be careful boy!" Dukes pointed at me with a warning tone.

She watched me from the couch as I held Legend up like a Uzi, shooting him at his brother who sat in his car seat dozing off.

"He's fine! My boys love this shit."

I couldn't contain my cackle as I listened to my son giggle uncontrollably. He was beginning to drool, so after a quick swipe from his bib I continued to shoot him, this time aiming at his granny.

I mimicked the gun's noises as I got the perfect aim in her chest. Legend giggled like crazy and maybe I was tripping but I swore I heard him tryna say my name.

I made sure we were face-to-face in no time. My baby still seemed to be on a high from the playing as he still held a big gummy grin. I looked at my twin as he stared back into my face fixing his lips just the right way to say what I wanted to hear.

"Say da da, da da!" I encouraged holding him close to my chest.

Me and Lee been encouraging the boys for weeks to say our names. We had a bet going on what they would say and who would speak first and if legend said my name right now I'd be up $400. He fixed his lips and was trying so hard to get it out.

"Mama get my phone and start recording!"

My mama quickly got off the couch and retrieved my phone from my back pocket. She sat back down with a confused look on her face as she squinted her eyes, holding the phone close to her face.

"Where's the camera?"

"Wha- just give it to me."

I couldn't let my dukes' ignorance about phones ruin this perfect moment. I knew if my son said my name it had to be recorded for many reasons. One being that if I didn't record them Lee would whoop my ass for not being able to capture the moment since she was at work. Also, she probably wouldn't believe me if I told her without proof anyway because that would mean she owes me.

Legend couldn't get past the D's and stopped trying completely once the camera was in his face. Me and Dukes slowly stopped our encouraging and cheering once we realized he wasn't going to say it. The sneaky child just stared off looking confused before getting distracted by my chain.

I smacked my teeth finally accepting that I lost my chances of winning for the moment.

"That some bullshit son, for real." I spoke placing him in his car seat.

All smart ass did was reply with a big smile as he laughed in my face.

"Y'all leaving so soon?" She questioned as she walked off into the kitchen, returning with a Pepsi.

"Yea, I gotta get home before Lee gets off so I can start dinner and try to get them ready for bed."

"You what?" She looked amused as she exhaled a small breath.

"Since when did you start cooking dinners and putting the kids to bed on your own?"

"Chill out." I laughed as I slung a diaper bag over my shoulder.

"I just been tryna help out is all. You know her papa is sick and shit."

"You expect me to believe that?" She cocked her eyebrow.

"It's true!"

"That might be true but it's not the sole purpose for you tryna play the perfect boyfriend. What's up?"
