Landin's POV

Inhale slowly, hold it for a second and breathe out. I repeated that notion a few times before finally sitting on her nice carpet. The feeling of the cold wall on my back was the only thing keeping my eyes open right now.

I was exhausted after having to handle Zaily's sneaky ass. She couldn't have thought I wouldn't be back for her after trying to get into my girl's head. Visions of the night's events ran through my head making me nauseous.

After leaving D I stopped over my mamas to give her the heads up. Making sure not to go into detail, I let her know I had business to handle but I'd be back to get a change of clothes. Even though she didn't approve of what me and bro did, my mama was always gone have our backs regardless.

I quickly hopped up deciding that if I didn't get to work now I'd never be able to get rid of this body. It was already going on 2 am and I needed to get back home or D would be pissed.

Taking a look at Zaily's bloody body made me sick. I hated having to kill when I wasn't in the mood, especially over something so stupid as a bitch spitting words out when I warned her not to. I shook away my thoughts as I got in my mode, getting ready to place her severed limbs and the rest of her torso into various trash bags.

Once I had her body and the house cleaned back up I drove down to the boat docks to burn the evidence. After she burned successfully, I tossed the remains into the river, racing to my mama's house to beat the sun as I noticed the sky getting more and more bright.

Using my key I twisted the lock and crept into the back door, listening to the floorboards creek under my feet. Seeing she left fresh clothes for me on the kitchen table, I took no time snatching them and quickly changing and tossing my soils next to the sliding door leading to the back patio. We agreed that my mama would burn that shit for me on her grill.

As I was about to leave I heard my mama call out my name. "Landin?"

Shit. I wasn't tryna see her right now.

Slowly turning with a fake grin, I came face to face with my mama's intense stare.

"You're just now getting back?"

"Yea, mama and I gotta get back home so D can go to her interview."

"You sure do. She and Elijah were looking for you last night."

"What?"

My heart rate increased hearing those words. I hoped D didn't ask her where I was.

"Yea she called saying that he woke up and was missing you. I'm sure she's worried sick." She complained closing her robe tighter on her chest and folding her arms.

"Look I'm not tryna be in your business but-"

"Then don't." I cut her off.

"Boy, you better watch who you talking to." She pointed in my face. "Don't forget who's helping clean up your mess. Sit down."

I wasnt scared of anything or anybody on this earth, besides Ka'Tina. I tried to keep a strong stare but eventually took a seat at the kitchen table, failing under her icy glare.

"Listen. I understand that you and your brothers do these things for your family and I respect that. But son, you need to stop. You've been out all night terrorizing people and for what?"

"Like you said, it's for my family."

"Well, what good will that do if you get taken away from your family." Her tone hardened.

"God forbid something happens to you this lifestyle. Then what? Your child is left without a father and your girlfriend will have to live without you, is that what you want?"
