Adams pov
"Okay kids like ice-cream right. But what kind does she like" I looked through the several different flavours of ice-cream, muttering to myself.
"Everything alright Adam?" Lute peaked over my shoulder.
"No I'm stressed" I ran my hand through my hair "that poor kid's so upset and I don't know how to cheer her up. I haven't been a father in such a long time. I'm not sure how to help her"
"It's a tough situation but I think she'd appreciate us just being there" she smiled at me.
"Yeah you're right" I nodded greatfully "I'll have one of everything"
I balanced the ice-creams as I brought them to Charlie "here ya go kid. I didn't know what flavours you like so I bought them all"
She nodded glumly as she ate the strawberry flavoured one.
"You alright sweetie" lute gently brushed the hair out of her eyes.
"I'm not sure" she hugged my knees with tears in her eyes "why did she try to leave me and dad? I know she and dad were having trouble at the time but was she really okay with leaving me behind?"
"Oh kid" I pulled her into my side "I've known your mom for a really long time and I can tell you she fucking adores you. I don't know why she did what she did but it's got nothing to do with you"
"That's right Charlie" lute stoked her hair "you're a great kid. Who wouldn't want to be around you"
"Thanks guys. I'm glad you're both here" she leaned against my side. I smiled softly as I held her close. I may not be a good dad but I'm a pretty kickass uncle!
