Adams pov
I headed home with the money in hand. Thanks to Luci's generosity I could go home early.
"Adam what are you doing back so soon" eve approached me, her crimson eyes staring me down "I hope you have my money"
"Right here" I handed it to her. She stared at me sceptically "I got a super rich client that was willing to pay the big bucks for what I had to offer" I explained.
"A rich client you say, anyone we know?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Nope!" I said quickly. Knowing eve she'd probably get pissed at any mention of Lucifer or Lilith.
"I see" she took a seat and gestures for me to come over. I knelt in front of her, letting her run her hands through my hair.
"You did well my love. I'm so glad you learnt your lesson" my eyes shifted. Lucifer's words still ran through my head "is something wrong darling?" She grabbed my chin.
"Well that client of ours was saying some crazy stuff" I fumbled with my hands nervously "he seemed to think I could be redeemed"
"Redeemed?" She laughed mockingly "darling you could never be redeemed. You're a loudmouth, selfish egotistical fuck up. It was a miracle that you got into heaven in the first place" I looked away. She's right.
"This is where you belong. With me" she stroked my face.
"I know" I looked down at my hands "but it was kinda nice to have someone believe I could do it"
Her eyes hardened "don't tell me you want to go back to heaven" her voice was calm yet threatening.
"No it's not like that-" I was cut off by a smack across the face. I held my cheek as she towered over me.
"Look what you done now. You've gone ahead and upset me"
"I-I'm sorry" I looked away shamefully. I feel like such a bitch.
She turned her back to me "just go. I can't look at you right now"
I nodded as I stood up and ran back to my room that I share with her. I lay on the bed, staring up at the fake stars on the ceiling. It reminded me of the garden where I didn't feel so alone.
"Adam I believe every one of my people are capable of change, including you"
Steeling my resolve I sat up and packed my bags, sneaking out the window. I don't know if I'm capable of change but anythings better than staying here.
