Vox's pov
I paced around the library anxiously. What do I do? Alastor seems so cool but he'll have nothing to do with me when he found out that I'm a spy. My job or love. What do I choose!
My thoughts were cut off by my phone ringing. I answered it to see the face of my boss.
"Hey kid. You have anything to report?"
I took a deep breath. I've made up my mind "I'm sorry sir but I don't want to report anything"
"Excuse me?" His voice was low and dangerous.
"I appreciate all you've done for me but I won't betray these people's kindness by spying on them. I'll hand in my resignation tomorrow"
"Let's not get hasty kid" Cain said calmly "this whole thing was just to make my mother happy. I personally couldn't give less of a shit about that hotel. I'll see you tomorrow"
"Thank you sir" I sighed greatfully as he hung up. I guess I can have it both ways-
"Vox!" I spun around to see Lucifers shocked face.
"Oh crap" I muttered "Lucifer I'm sorry-" he approached me. I shielded my eyes only for him to hold his hand out.
"It starts with sorry" I blinked a couple of times "that's your foot in the door. One simple sorry, spoken straight from your core" he placed a hand on my chest "The path to forgiveness, is a twisting trail of hearts! But sorry is where it starts!"
"Who could forgive a dirtbag like me?" I turned my back to him "I don't deserve your amnesty"
"Well that's true" Lucifer said brightly "But who hasn't been in your shoes? It starts with sorry"
"Sorry"
"Dig down deeper and say one sincere sorry!"
"I'm so sorry!"
"And your journey's underway!"
"It'll take time to cover your/my vast multitude of sins" we sang together "But sorry is where it begins. It starts with sorry"
When we finally finished he pulled me into a hug "welcome to the team vox. For real this time!"
I smiled as he walked away. I guess this is my home now.
