Indigo's hand brushed against the cool surface of the floor, her fingers groping in the darkness as she reached out for Bucky, searching for the comforting warmth of his presence. But all she found was empty space, the absence of his touch sending a shiver of unease down her spine.

With a sudden jolt, she sat up, her heart pounding in her chest as she scanned the dimly lit room for any sign of him. And there he was, perched on the edge of the counter, his form illuminated by the soft glow of the moonlight streaming in through the window.

For a moment, they simply stared at each other, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavy in the air between them. Then, with a quick movement, Indigo reached for the sheet, pulling it tightly around her body as she sat up, her eyes never leaving his.

Bucky's gaze was intense, his eyes tracing the curve of her body as if committing every detail to memory. There was a vulnerability in his expression, a rawness that mirrored her own inner turmoil, and for the first time, she saw the depth of emotion hidden behind his steely facade.

"I think... I think you should leave, Indigo" Bucky's words were scarcely more than a fragile whisper, carrying a weight that seemed to fill the room with an unbearable heaviness.

"What?" Indigo's voice wavered, faltering under the weight of disbelief and hurt.

"Last night... It was a mistake," Bucky confessed, his voice etched with regret, each word heavy with the burden of his admission. "I never should have allowed it to happen."

Indigo's heart sank at Bucky's words, the weight of his rejection crushing her spirit like a heavy stone. She stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief, unable to comprehend how something that had felt so right could suddenly be deemed a mistake.

"What do you mean, a mistake?" she whispered, her voice barely above a hoarse whisper as she struggled to find the words to express the anguish welling up inside her.

Bucky's expression was pained, his eyes clouded with regret as he avoided her gaze, unable to meet her eyes. "I mean... I mean that I shouldn't have crossed that line with you, Indigo," he murmured, his voice barely audible over the pounding of her heart. "You deserve better than someone like me."

Indigo's mind reeled with confusion, her thoughts spinning in a whirlwind of emotions as she tried to make sense of his words. "But... but I thought you cared about me," she choked out, her voice trembling with unshed tears. "I thought... I thought we had something special."

Bucky's shoulders slumped, his features drawn with guilt, "We do have something special, Indigo," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "But I can't... I can't let myself hurt you. I can't be the reason you suffer."

Tears welled up in Indigo's eyes, spilling over onto her cheeks as she struggled to contain the tidal wave of emotions threatening to overwhelm her. "But what if I'm willing to take that risk?" she pleaded, her voice barely a whisper as she searched his eyes for any sign of hesitation.
