Indigo left the team in the lab after Dr. Cho finished stitching her up, she desperately needed to wash off the blood and call Bucky.
As soon as she was on her floor, she took out the burner phone and called him; it only rang once before she heard Bucky's worried voice.
"Indigo! Hello, baby? What's going on? Doll?" Bucky yelled into the phone.
Indigo's heart skipped a beat at the urgency in Bucky's voice, a pang of guilt tugging at her for causing him distress. She paused in the doorway of her room, the familiar surroundings offering a sense of comfort amidst the chaos of the day.
"Woah, calm down, James. I'm right here," she reassured him, her voice steady despite the turmoil swirling within her. With measured steps, she crossed the room, the phone pressed to her ear as she settled onto the edge of her bed.
"What the fuck, Indigo? It has been hours since you were supposed to call. I was about to get on a plane to make sure you weren't dead!" She can hear Bucky's worry in his tone.
Indigo winced at the sharpness in Bucky's voice, the weight of his worry pressing down on her like a leaden weight. Guilt gnawed at her insides, knowing she had caused him unnecessary distress.
"I'm sorry, Bucky. I didn't mean to worry you," she said softly, her words heavy with regret. "I'm here now, I'm okay. Please don't get on a plane. I'm safe, I promise."
She set the phone down on her bedside table, the urgency of Bucky's concern propelling her into action. With careful movements, she shed the blanket wrapped around her, mindful not to disturb the stitches holding her wound together. The fabric slipped from her shoulders, pooling at her feet as she breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly picked her phone back up.
"Indie, what's happening? Your voice... it sounds like you're hurting," Bucky's concern resonated through the phone.
Indigo proceeded to tell Bucky about everything that happened with Ultron and his murder bots. She wanted to leave out the part where she hurt herself, but she knew Bucky would see the new scar and ask her what happened. She just didn't want him to overreact and of course he did.
"I'm getting on a plane right now. You can't fight when you're injured, Indigo. You could have died, Jesus." Bucky's frustration echoed through the line.
"I can fight and I have to fight, James. The team needs me, I can't sit this one out just because I'm a little hurt. You need to stay where you are and let me handle this." Indigo countered, determined to reassure him while masking her own frustration.
Indigo makes her way to the bathroom and turns on the shower, sinking to the floor as she waits for the water to warm up.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed? You can't... you just can't..." Indigo could hear the tremor in Bucky's voice, the strain of emotion evident as he fought to maintain composure.
