Here's a small piece of the chapter I just wrote,
Indigo sucked in a breath, her chest tightening with the weight of Tony's words. She knew he was right. As she stood there, phone pressed to her ear, she realized with painful clarity that she would never truly move on from Bucky.
The realization settled over her like a heavy blanket, suffocating yet somehow comforting in its certainty. Bucky had been her everything—the love of her life, her partner, her happy ending. Even in death, his presence loomed large in her heart, an indelible mark that shaped her every thought and action.
She had hoped that by going out, by trying to embrace a semblance of normalcy, she could somehow outrun the grief that clung to her like a shadow. But tonight's events had shattered that illusion, laying bare the raw truth that Bucky's absence was a void she could never fill.
Her mind raced back to their last moments together, his warm smile etched in her memory. She could still feel the touch of his hand, the sound of his laughter echoing in her ears. How could she ever move on from a love so deep, so profound?
Tears welled in her eyes as she leaned against the outside bar wall, clutching the phone tighter. Tony's voice, filled with empathy and understanding, drifted through the line. He was her anchor in this storm of emotions, a steady presence reminding her that it was okay to grieve, okay to feel lost.
"I don't know if I can do this, Tony," Indigo confessed softly, her voice trembling. "I don't know how to let go."
"You don't have to let go," Tony replied gently. "You carry his memory with you, Indigo. That's part of who you are."
Indigo closed her eyes, a lone tear escaping down her cheek. Tony's words offered a flicker of solace amidst the turmoil. She knew she couldn't erase the past, nor could she erase the love she still felt for Bucky. It was woven into the fabric of her being, an inseparable thread that defined her.
"I miss him so much," she whispered, the ache in her heart threatening to engulf her.
"I know," Tony said softly. "And that's okay. But remember, you're not alone in this."
Indigo nodded, even though Tony couldn't see her. She drew strength from his words, a lifeline in the darkness. "Thank you, Tony," she murmured, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Anytime, Willow," Tony's voice came through the phone, his tone infused with warmth and affection. "Now take a deep breath. Go back in there and make sure my wife doesn't sleep with anyone."
Indigo chuckled softly, grateful for Tony's ability to lighten even the darkest moments.
"We'll see you later. I love you, Willow," Tony continued, his words a comforting anchor amidst her emotional turmoil.
"I love you too," Indigo replied, her voice softening with tenderness. "Tell Gracie I'll be home soon."
After hanging up, Indigo dabbed at her eyes, clearing away the remnants of tears. Gathering her resolve, she turned and walked purposefully back into the bustling bar.
