Vines entwine themselves all over the freaking door the second I touch the doorknob.
"I find it hard to believe you passed any of your language courses at the academy. I didn't mention "leaving" this room was one of the options. So I'll ask again what are you going to choose?"
The urge to drop the giant chandelier above his head was growing stronger every second I had to stay here with him.
"You know your role seems kinda useless. Is all you do go around getting into people's business and trouble them? Like seriously. Me and my friend were just attending this ball and you just usurp us from what we're doing to spend time with you and him? We have mouths and would have gone to you guys if we wanted the same, you oaf."
He takes a seat on that disgustingly expensive armchair and crosses his legs.
"I would have had your head ages ago if your records and history weren't remarkable. Just because I give you my patience, doesn't mean you have acquired the right to talk to me like that.."
Knowing that this talk isn't going to end soon I slump down on the wall of the door and suck the insides of my mouth to avoid coughing up the blood I can feel in my throat. His ranting was better than being physical with me which I knew I wouldn't survive because of his strength.
"You will be staying here at the castle with me for the next few days. I know there are things that you are hiding and if any of them are a threat to the kingdom, I will very much so find out. Schools over as well so you have no excuses. I'll get you a healer because you reminded me my role which for no reason whatsoever has to be touching lowbornes like you."
In the position I'm currently in, I decide that complaining about staying in the one place I hated the most would have to wait for a time where I actually had the energy to do so.
And after getting healed I would run back home with Ry.
He doesn't wait for a response as he vanishes from his seat.
I call upon my backup energy that shouldn't be used and head to the door Cassian had gone.
While knocking on the door I gasp out Ry's name, hoping she would hear me.
"Ari is that you?" she whispers from the other end.
I nod before internally slapping myself and give a verbal reply.
"Are you alone or is he there too?" she responds back.
"It's just me for now." I tell her.
"I'm coming in."
I slide away from the door as Ry walks through it and the healer walks through the door at the same time.
"Where did that entitled brat go?" I ask her.
She looked fine to me other than her hair having exploded from her fancy braid and her cheeks being flushed
"I knocked him out with a vase." she whispers to me as the healer helps me up on the couch.
"Oh my god, I love you Ryy." I whisper back and she blows me a kiss.
The healer yaps about how I should take care of myself and gives a few ointments I should use for the next few days for the scars to leave.
I can feel my energy coming back as I stand up with some help from Ry.
"Okay we have to leave from here as fast as possible. The prince wants to keep me and probably you too for longer here and I can't risk getting caught."
"Got it and Cassian will be waking up soon. That is not something I want to stay and watch either. I remember my disguise spells that I learned from him when we were on good terms.."
We both plan out and take up spells that we will use on each other before teleporting outside of castle grounds.
"Let's hope this works!" we both say at the same time.
3 days later:
Both of us successfully make it back to our town with our disguises. Ry now is a brunette and I didn't have to change my hair color as for who knows what reason, my black hair was now a dark wine color all the way from my roots. I really had to find someone who knew what was going on with me that wasn't a royal.
As we walk down the path to my now very abandoned house since my family moved to another kingdom around the time I went to the academy, I think of the guy who I saw earlier on campus.
The leaves crunch under us as we walk on the forest trail.
"Ry..."
"Yeah, what's up?" she says as we reach the door of my house.
"Never mind I'll tell you once we are inside. I'll enter from the back door and you cover the front. Who knows if they sent people to where we live. Send out green sparks in my way if all clear and I'll do the same."
She mouths an okay and we both pull on our mage hoods while keeping a hand on our combat knives as we get closer.
I still don't have the strength to pull an invisibility spell so I approach the back as quietly as I can and peak through the back windows to see any signs of forced entry.
After securing the grounds I run through all the rooms on all levels to see if anything is out of place. A thick layer of dust is everywhere as well as other foreign insects and whatnot. I run up to my aunt and uncles room and rummage through their stuff to which seems everything is still there.
I send green sparks and receive them in return.
Thanks to my mage skills, I recite a few spells and the house looks as good as new with all the grime and bugs gone.
A wave of energy leaves me the second I do that and I slug down the stairs to the kitchen where Ry is sitting.
"You know the guy who came up to me on campus and said he was my brother? I want to contact him but don't know if it's safe to."
Ry pulls off her cape and stretches in her minidress.
"Honestly I can barely remember anything that happened these past few weeks. But I agree, I really don't think that it's safe in meeting him. I mean hell you don't even know anything about him. Of course not counting the moments you had together as kids."
I stare at the clock behind the kitchen counter.
"Yeah that's true."
"We can't stay here though. I would say the max is we can spend two days in this town before finding another place. They'll come here soon enough."
I nod along to her response.
"I mean should we meet everyone else here? It's been a while and we never got to even say goodbye to them... But they could inform them that we are here. Do you think??.."
I shrug out of my cape and tie up my hair.
"Honestly I don't know what they would do. For now let's shower and then rest, we'll wake up before sunrise tomorrow to pick up whatever you need from your house."
We had eaten on the way from a local cafe so we head straight upstairs to change.
