To say that this academy is complex would be an understatement. We had reached the hall seconds before the bell had gone off and none of our friends were in sight.

A wide assortment of food was kept on a wooden glazed table that stretched across the room that could at max hold 50 students. The ceiling was black and so were the rest of the things in the room.

I see a tall lady talking to a man who has an ashy bead and fairly short compared to her. Our footsteps cause them to stop talking and they glance towards us.

The lady has a stern and judgmental stare as she continues to look at us and the man slightly grins before heading towards the exit.

I look towards Lav and she gives me a puzzled face on what we should do next.

"Welcome to the academy! I take it that this is your first time here so I'll go over everything from the start. Please take a seat and I'll be back with your schedules." the lady says.

I open my mouth to ask her a question but she cuts me off.

"I assume you must be wondering where your fellow classmates are. Don't worry about them as they all are having their own orientations done as well somewhere else as I speak. I'll be the one you come to these next 3 days for any questions that arise in those brains of yours." and with that she just vanishes with just small clouds of air taking her presence.

"Well at least she doesn't seem as bad as the lady we saw at our place." Lav tells me.

"I mean we just met her so you never know. I really want to see what the others are doing. It feels like we haven't seen them in ages. I want to know if Luca is doing alright." I say.

"Only three days Ari, then we done with this crap. I hate this environment already. I thought it would be great, you know I love these type of events where you dress up n all. But this sucks and I would never fit in with this crowd."

"Yup just 3 long, exhausting days." I sigh.

If Lav didn't like this place I didn't know who would. She came from a family who had generational wealth even though they didn't live in the capital or were  related to royals. If there ever was a fancy event or party she would always go full out on it to impress people and show off the money her family had.

So her saying she didn't like this expensive, elite filled with upper-class academy; that was something you had to worry about.

The orientation took around 2 hours and in that time we were also allowed to eat whatever was at the table. And nobody else had shown up at that time which again was strange.

Why were they trying so hard to isolate us from the rest of this place? Or was nobody interested in seeing people out of the academy? Probably to full of themselves..

"And that's all for today. Good luck on your evaluations!" the lady who's name I learned was Anastasia said.

It turned out she wasn't actually mean. She just had one of those mean looking faces if you get what I mean.

We say our thanks and then head back to our rooms. Hallway there I realize I forgot to take my schedule with me. I'm so clumsy ughh.

"Lav I forgot my schedule, I'm gonna go back."

"You okay with going by yourself? I don't feel good again. I would come if--"

"It's all good. Just take care of yourself."

She heads back and I find my way back to that hall.

After getting it as I'm walking to my room, I hear voices.

"You really think their going to stick around for much longer? I mean I saw a few earlier and they looked confused as hell in this place."

"If Magistrate Jackson saw them worthy enough to step foot on this land then maybe they will. They should know where they fucking stand though. I still am unable to digest they are living here on campus. Our prestiged grounds. The nerve Ana had on siding with those lowborns in court still disgusts me." a deeper voice says.

I slam my hands over my mouth to hide my gasp as I realize they must be talking about us. I knew these people didn't like us but hating on us at this level? What did we ever do to them? In fact their the ones who took so much from us.

The cold starts getting to me and I remember I do not have a coat with me. The stupid air though is making my cheeks and neck flush for no reason and I can't wait to get out of this uniform.

Not giving a second thought about whoever those students are I make my way back to the room.

I don't pay attention to the floor as I make my way out of the building and onto the pavement.

One second I'm walking and the next I'm on the floor with my bare legs touching the cold pavement as my treacherous skirt lifts upwards.

I was for sure gonna get bruises and it doesn't take long for the cold and impact of the fall to turn into pain.

Sliding my folded schedule into boots, I attempt getting up but my hands slip on the ice which I hadn't even noticed was there.

I give it a few more attempts and be careful this time but my balance is very off. On the last try my legs land on something sharp and red seeps down my legs.

I let out a scream as I then yank off my sweater and tie it around my bleeding leg.

I hated this place already and couldn't wait to go home :(
