This couldn't be happening right now! Couldn't she have found anyone other than him to hang out with?

Maybe he won't recognize me? I mean there's a lot of people who look like me right or have green eyes?

He looks me up and down with those grey eyes as if I'm hiding something from him before turning to Ry.

"Celine? Won't you introduce me to this young lady over here?"

I stop myself from letting out a chuckle as I realize she gave him a fake him. Smartt Ryy.

She gives him a heartful smile before speaking. "Of course! This here is my friend, Celeste. She is a bit shy but I'm sure you will get to know each other just fine."

To prove how close we are she gives me a side hug before grabbing one of her bags from the ground.

"Cas" eyes the movement before reaching out his hand for me to shake it.

"Nice to meet you, Celeste."

I can't shake his hand! I've heard mages can figure out who people are just with making contact with their skin. I shift my eyes to Ry hoping she would get the hint of me not wanting to touch him.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you, Caden. Celeste was working in the fields yesterday and scabbed both of her hands. I think she got an infection or something so she won't be able to shake your hand."

I let out a small sigh of relief before going back to what she said.

Caden? Was this not him then? Or was he also faking his name?

Orr I was overthinking and he just had a nickname that didn't associate with his real name.

"No problem. Would you like to now start heading to the academy? It takes a while to get there." he says while looking towards her.

It's cute how he has to crane his neck to look at her as Ry's around 5'4 while he's 6'+.

They could both have passed off as siblings but there were mere differences that would make people doubt it.

Like how Ry had blonde hair and blue eyes while (I'm just going to go with Cas) had dirty brown hair and green eyes.

"Ar- uh I mean Celeste. Would you like to come with us?"

She bites her lip with the name switch before starting to question Cas about how the academy is.

I give her a nod and slightly look up to see if he noticed what happened but it doesn't seem like he had noticed.

Phew! That was a relief.

Once we reach his carriage he holds up a hand to tell us he needs to take a quick call and then walks further away from us into the opening of a forest.

"Ari, I'm going to switch out of my shoes to wear heels. I want to look a bit more presentable."

She walks near a large stone and sits on it while going through her bags to find a pair of heels.

Me being my curious self tell her I'm going to check on something and then be back.

I walk in the direction I saw Cas go and try to listen to see if I can hear him.

"I'm fucking sure it is her. And she's acting hella sus, dude. Girls dressed up as if she's a fugitive. Now maybe's it's all for a cold she could have gotten with sitting in the ice-"

"Make sure she shows up to the academy and don't do anything dumb to make her think you recognize her. I'm caught up in too many things to be looking out for her on my own time. Do you really have to bring that other girl you just mentioned?"

My heart skips a beat as I hear what their talking about.

I was getting fooled the entire time? How was I supposed to escape if a 4th year academia student was going to be on my back? And Alex coming after me too??

Not waiting to hear what he has to say to that, I run back to where Ry is.

"Arii! I think I broke my ankle! I-I don't want h-him to s-see my like thiss. Can we please get out of here before he comes back!" Ry says in between sobs.

I look down at her foot and blood trickles down her ankle. Not to mention it's positioned in a weird way.

Yeah that was definitely broken. And if she wanted to leave from here no way was I thinking twice in making sure we were out of here.

"We have to go fast! Once we're in the market he probably won't find us. I'll carry all the bags. You just lean into and hop on one foot till we get there."

"O-okay."

I look in the direction of the forest to see if he's coming out and thankfully he isn't.

A stressful 15 minutes later we are back in the busy market.

I find a sitting spot and help Ry sit down and then gaze over the market.

"Ry, how are we going to get home?"

"Uh the driver is at the place we stayed at as well so we can just go there. But um Ari, we might have to head back to the place we were just at.."

"Wait what? For what?"

"I may or may not have taken off my ankle bracelet to have a better look on how the heels looked."

"Ryy! You know how expensive that is! What are the chances it will even be there once we go back?" I exclaim.

"I'm pretty sure it will be there. I just hope we don't bump into Caden. Do you think he will be looking for us?" she questions.

Her blue eyes look at me with so much innocence that I don't want to break it to her that Caden is not a good person.

She was anyway going to be working here in the future. I didn't want to break her heart in telling her the first friend that she was going to make here was bad.

"Nope he will probably be long gone. I mean he had to get to class anyway so he would have gotten late if he looked around."

"Hmm that's true. Let's head back then."

3 hours later everything had gone according to the plan and we were finally heading home.

I was so done with this association with the elites and their lifestyle.
