Chapter 43

Ari's POV

I freeze in his hold, knowing very well who that voice belongs to. 

"What the hell are you doing here? Is this why you cancelled the meeting we were supposed to have earlier today?" Alexander questions. 

I try to sink deeper into him but he gently pulls himself away from me and I continue to face the other way. When I meant that I missed people. This guy was not included in that. 

"Yeah, so Alex I had a few things that came up so I couldn't hold it. I scheduled it for later today though and everyone rsvp'd for it, so we're all good." 

He was on first name and nickname basis with the heir? How many things was I kept in the dark for? I bite my lip and put a foot forward towards wherever Zaniyah is but Alexander speaks again. 

"Yeah, I know. But why this place? You know this is where the Eversons investigation is still going on right? Nobody can be here.." he says in a suspicious tone. 

The fucking Eversons? What the hell was he thinking while making us come here? And what had happened here?

I turn to face Adrian to question him. 

"Adrian you never said-"

He glares at me and I realize I did something wrong. 

Alexander stares at me with his eyes glowing. Oh shit. He was analyzing me. 

What was I supposed to do now? 

"Uhhh so you see.." I start to say to no one in particular. 

"What the fuck? You told her your name? She's a student at the academy you fucking dumbass. What did I tell you about-"

Adrian tugs his hair and then shoves my shoulder. 

What was that for? 

" I didn't! That's the thing. She got ahold of that information, Alex. You think I would allow people running their mouths about my true identity? I got my girlfriend to bring her here. We were going to sort everything out. Like I'm just as surprised on how she found out about me." he exclaims in a bewildered tone. 

My jaw drops open as I can't believe he put me on spot in front of the freaking heir. 

Alexander looks at me in disappointment like I broke his trust or something. Like we were ever close like that? 

"You just can't mind your own business can you? First your friend is eating Cassian's brain and now your putting your nose into things that you shouldn't be? I don't think I've ever met someone as troublesome as you." he bites out. 

"Someone told me." I say with no confidence in my voice. 

He narrows his eyes at me. "Oh yeah? And who was that someone?" 

"Uh I don't know who they were. They just told me about him and I tried figuring out why I was supposed to know that." 

Adrian pats down his uniform under his cloak before taking out a joint. 

I look at him in bewilderment. 

He was into all of that? 

He lights it and takes a few puffs out of it before throwing it on the ground to crush under his combat boots. 

No way was he my freaking brother that I still loved somewhere inside of my heart. 

"I gotta go now Alex. Zaniyah needs my help. I'll see you later today." and with that he vanishes in the freaking air. 

Screw my miserable life. 

How did Alexander even show up over here? 

I walk over to the horses and manifest a carrot to feed to them. 

I can hear him walking behind me so I just speak to my back to him. 

"Look I know we both don't particularly like each other. And even if our friends are going through whatever you look that situation. Let's go on with our lives, shall we?" 

Once Daisy, the horse, has ate everything I gave her. I'm about to haul myself onto her back when he grabs my arm. 

I let out a long sigh and turn to face him. 

"Wha-" 

A sharp pain shows up in my cheek and I don't even bother to utter anything to him again. 

I should just get used to this idiot liking to do that. 

He grabs me under my chin and stares into me.

"You pathetic little being. Did you think you could hide such a big secret from me? Do you even know what the consequences can be after I tell this to the academy board? Well who gives a damn about them, I found out. Just take it as your no longer living in your dorm anymore." 

I can feel tingling from where he is holding me and my breaths are getting shorter as I can feel getting lightheaded. 

What was he even so mad about? He can't make such a big deal of me following some guy and it was my brother anyway.. 

He holds a hair strand and shoves it in my face. 

All I see is red. 

Red. 

Oh fuck. 

It's red.

"No." I gasp. 

"Yes." he grits out. 

I fall back a step. 

The anger in his eyes is nothing to the fear I can feel coursing through my veins. 

I attempt to take another step back but he shoots an arm around my waist to hold me in his grip. 

" I don't-"

"You don't what? Stop for once with the fucking lies! I have eyes goddamn it! You knew this entire time, didn't you?" 

I violently shake my head which only makes me dizzier.

"You knew. And you didn't mention it to any authority figure!" he yells.

Why was he so mad? So what if I had different types of powers. Other's did too..

"I can't fucking believe it." he whispers. 

I can feel that I'm losing myself as everything around me becomes blurry. 

What the hell was I going to do now when I woke up again??
