Marigold

AN: There’s too many different perspectives in this episode that it’s going to be quite a short one

Lilly always loved her siblings. There was nothing else she cared about more than their safety, which means that the second they even shed a singular tear she was there to comfort them.

But who was there to comfort her?

In her head on the down days she’d say no one. And she had those down days very often.

But on the good days, she liked to think she at least had one person.

And it was true. All of her siblings even before the incident would have dropped everything for Lilly as in every lifetime she was destined to be loved– if not romantically by someone, then by her family.

But the Sparrows said they'd drop everything for her and all regretted not dropping it quicker in order to save her.

No one took it well, and when the day after the incident their father tried to get them to train again, Pogo suggested giving him specific amounts of medication to slow him down.

Hargreeves wanted it to take a day for them to mourn and recover, but the Sparrows hadn't recovered after years. Even when they had spent practically the same amount of time without Lilly in their lives than with.

Marcus was the stereotypical Number One, he loved his siblings but sometimes he loved the cause they were fighting for a little bit more. So when he found out they'd failed the mission he was obviously disappointed but when he found out more he was devastated.

He wouldn't claim to be an emotional person, but in the months after the loss of his sister he was a wreck the second the door closed. He thought it was his responsibility to comfort the other’s so when they were around him he offered all of them a hug and comforting words.

Ben was one of the worst. He used to be happy and bright, but after the incident it all stopped. He became snappy and tried to focus more on the Academy than his own emotions. If he stopped, then he’d crumble and he couldn't afford to do that.

He blamed himself, and it was like his own torture when he would look at the half finished painting he had hung on his wall above his desk. She died before she could complete the painting she had loved and adored and constantly would tell all her siblings about.

Fei would have liked to say she recovered quickly but of course that was a lie. When she truly believed she had recovered, she would see something whether that was her empty seat at the dining table or even a cupboard still stocked of the crisps that only Lilly liked; and it would all come crumbling down.

She never hid from it, however. She would walk around the house, never stepping foot in Lilly’s old room but she would stand in the doorway often– she would stand in the same part of the garden that she and Lilly used to hide in, she would wear all the clothes that she used to paint for her.

Alphonso had never experienced pain, at least not physically. But that all changed when Lilly died and he experienced true pain for truly the first time in his life.

It felt like how he assumed tiny needles in his heart would feel, but he had nothing to compare it to. He really hoped that there was someone to take his pain this time like they did every other time. All his siblings tried to ask him for comfort and he got better at it over time but at sixteen he had zero clue how to show comfort to anyone. He would offer them hugs here and there but that was all he knew to do.
