Oblivion

They all continued walking, Lillith holding onto Sloane’s hand pulling her along with her, yet she stood at the front ready to attack whatever could be on the other side of the door.

The entire corridor was extremely disorientating that it was nice to finally be out of it, Lillith quickly doing a headcount as if a teacher on a school trip.

There were ten people who were supposed to exit through the door, and it took her a second after realising it was ten and not eleven after Luther had already been taken from them.

So she counted as they walked past.

One, Lillith. Two, Sloane. Three, Diego. Four, Ben. Five, Viktor. Six, Allison. Seven, Mila. Eight, Five. Nine, Reginald. Ten–

Klaus.

Klaus?

Viktor panted, “Let's never do that again.”

“What? Narrowly escape the apocalypse?” Five asked.

“It’s kind of our thing, isn't it,” Diego said as he began walking around to see for any sort of danger.

But Lillith couldn't focus.

Ben walked over to the back of the bull, Allison looking over, “There’s something very wrong about that.”

“Same suite but everything is backwards,” Mila pointed out.

“No hyperbole there,” Five said.

Ben then fully looked around, “This is some hardcore Alice in Wonderland shit.”

“Yeah, it only gets weirder,” Diego told them.

“Guys,” she mumbled, fear taking over her. And then she shouted it even louder. “Guys!” Then when everyone looked over at her she pointed at the empty space in the door. “Where is Klaus? He should be here! Where is Klaus!”

Reginald then shut the door, beginning to look significantly more panicked than before. “At last, the other side. Children, I’m sorry, but your brother. . . I did all I could, but he didn't make it through in time. The Kugelblitz has claimed its last victim.”

Lillith then began spiralling, holding onto Diego for support as tears formed in her eyes and she struggled to hold it together, the air around them pushing everyone slightly away from her. Her breathing began to get heavy before Diego placed his hands on her face kissing her to stop her frantic panicking.

It seemed to work for now at least, but the internal grief and depression had begun taking its toll significantly quicker than before.

Five shook his head, “No, he was right behind me when I entered the tunnel.”

“We need to go back,” Sloane said, stepping forwards.

“If you had even a slight part in this I’ll kill you myself,” Lillith threatened glaring at Reginald.

“Children, there will be time for tears later. Right now, we have to keep moving,” he said, before walking out of the room leaving everyone behind.

“Wait, Luther and Klaus?” Viktor said, everyone finally letting the grief hit them.

They stood in silence for a little while, old memories with two of the people they all loved and adored hitting them.

But they had to keep moving. They wouldn't let them die in vain.

The bell dinged, everyone more than happy to be able to get out of the elevator which they had all been squashed into.
