But it just continued.

The flashing.

The ringing.

The pure brutal force of the wind almost knocked all of them back, but Lillith was clinging onto the desk, Diego wrapping his arm around the woman’s waist trying to make sure she was safe and okay, barely caring about his own safety.

He was what she cared about at this moment.

He had tried to push thoughts of her away for the past few months, trying not to think about the fact he had left her again. It was the main reason he wanted to save JFK.

If he couldn't prove himself to the woman he loved– he would prove himself to his country.

But no– now all he wanted to do was stop Vanya for Lillith. Of course the safety of the rest of the Academy crossed his mind, and the safety of the rest of the world but she was his guiding light.

As if he cleared all other worries, just by being there with him.

The sun in a storm.

But the flashing intensified, and the wind got harsher, and the exhaustion was overcoming most of them.

Lillith had to try her very hardest to try and listen out to what people said, filling in the blanks to whatever she was struggling to hear.

“Vanya’s in the room at the end of the hall,” Diego shouted out to all of them, the two women having their heads in their hands.

“How do you propose we get to her?” Allison asked, having to shout back.

“I haven't figured that one out yet.”

Lillith tried to remove her hands, realising she wouldn't be able to put herself first, her hands were shaking and her breathing was heavy and she knew that if Ben, the system, was there right now in her ear he would be telling her to leave immediately.

“You can count me out,” Klaus told them.

“Klaus!” Allison sighed.

“What? You guys should save her. You're great at all the hero shit.”

Lillith turned to her brother, “No. You're not doing this, Klaus. This isn't about being a hero, this is about saving the world. Saving Vanya. And you are helping us!”

“Listen, listen. Vanya would understand, and I’m shocked you don't Lils,” he whined. “Because you both have realistic expectations of what I am. And what I am is sexy trash.”

“Fair,” Lillith agreed.

But Diego didn't, turning to him in annoyance, “You're a big pussy, that’s what you are.”

Allison sighed, “Guys, now is not the time.”

“Why? Because I don't wanna die? Who does?” Klaus whined again. “And martyrs aren't around to enjoy the victory party, cause they're dead!”

Diego leant forwards, holding Klaus’ collar, “You are going out there. . .”

Klaus cowered slightly, “I’m not! Go away!”

But at this point Allison and Lillith were too anxious and desperate to even pay attention to the two men, holding each other’s hands, before beginning to crawl at the same time towards Vanya.

They pushed each other, dragging the other up after them, both simultaneously getting closer and closer to Vanya.

They were fighting against their tiredness, dragging themselves towards the bright light, blood beginning to drip from their noses as they continued.
