The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want

AN: quick apology for the fact it's been like a month, unis been very stressful and I've been in a writing block. It also takes forever to write these as I have to rewatch and pause the show constantly to get the speech

Lillith didn't realise how anxiety provoking planning a kids birthday party was until the day of the party when she realised how unprepared they were.

Thankfully Freya asked Brody to help who also asked his parents, who were more than happy to help.

The balloons filled up most of the car and Lillith had never wished for her powers back more than when she had to blow up about one hundred balloons for a balloon arch that Gracie “desperately needed”. She would have said no but then the puppy dog eyes were pulled out and she knew she lost.

“Mila, take the cake inside. Simon, can you carry this set of balloons? Does anyone have the candles? Have we forgot the candles?” Lillith asked in a frenzy.

“We’ve got candles,” Amanda (Brody’s mom) told her. “Let me carry some of the balloons too.”

Lillith went to the back of the van and unbuckled Gracie and Emmy and got their outfits from out of the boot of the car.

“Frey, can you get your sisters ready please while we set up?” Lillith asked her quickly running inside after handing the clothes to her daughter. “We have twenty minutes before the guest get here!”

Somehow everyone managed to hang up the posters saying “Happy Birthday Gracie”, construct the balloon arch and get everyone dressed in appropriate attire and set up the snack table in fifteen minutes.

But was it worth the tears shed and the anxious ranting.

It really wasn't an amazing time to see Lillith in her clearly very stressed state and although they had invited all of The Umbrella Academy she assumed most of them wouldn't come.

“Brody dear, I love you but you're just kind of standing in the way,” Lillith said, gently moving Brody away.

And somehow Brody and Freya weren't together yet despite the constant flirting which drove Diego to absolutely insanity but Lillith thought it was very cute.

“I hate the bubbles,” Diego complained, finally getting there after his shift at work and kissing Lillith on the forehead.

Gracie and Emmy ran towards their dad jumping at him for a hug shouting for his attention.

Diego crouched down to the floor, “Happy Birthday Grace, you look so pretty in the dress. And you look very pretty in yours Em.”

Both girls instantly ran away from their dad and continued playing.

“Is this what abandonment feels like?” Diego asked, sighing as his kids chose playing over him.

Freya began laughing, “I’d pick playing over you as well, Dad.”

The whole place was full of loud kids music, children shouting and laughing to each other and bright lights which completely overwhelmed Lillith.

She got Gracie to say hello to all of her guests and she just waited until any of the Academy got there but no one showed up.

Even Allison wasn't there and Claire promised Freya she was going to show up to keep her company.

Diego was putting candles in the cake, exactly six small candles and a large one in the middle with the number 6 on it.
