A/N: Hey, guys! So for this chapter, I'd strongly suggest skimming through chapters 16, 17, and 21 for a basic Explaination of this AU and why the characters act like this. HOWEVER you don't exactly.. have to? You can probably enjoy the oneshot on its own, so remember that.
Anyways, as much as I like sticking to canon Solarballs with what characters I'm using as much as possible, I do appreciate when people integrate Iris into their Solarballs stories, as long as it's done right. I enjoy it most of the time, actually! So props to you guys in particular. I just hope you guys will enjoy my take on Iris in this AU, as well as Proto Earth :]

AS FOR PROTO EARTH'S AND IRIS' RELATIONSHIP IN THIS- they're not in a romantic relationship. Proto Earth and Earth are not the same people, but either way I do feel weird shipping them even in that context. I really am stuck on writing/drawing these two because I don't wanna seem like a hypocrite for actively discouraging Iris x Earth while I have an AU where Proto Earth and Iris are best friends. So... readers, just leave your honest opinions here, I won't get mad. Promise!
For my analog horror fans, GHE isn't the only space related analog horror mentioned here. If you squint you'll see it! I just wanted to do this because I noticed how underrated it was in this fandom.

"Careful," Proto Earth hissed with a sense of urgency, "If we get caught, I'm never allowed to leave my orbit again. I've already run into enough trouble from The Sun."
They had decided to sneak out and bother some of the smaller planets in the Kuiper Belt, as well as finishing plotting out the rest of their map. The Sun was as full and bright as he always was, but at this time it was pretty much a given that everyone was sound asleep- everyone, except for them, that is. All Iris and Proto Earth had to do was sneak to the Kuiper Belt without detection.
Easier said than done.
Iris turned, casting his yellow-orange eyes towards his best friend. It was darker and hazier in the Outer Solar System, nothing like the warmth and light of where Proto Earth was from. "Sorry," he replied. "Stars, I wish it were end of orbiting period right now."
Proto Earth hummed in agreement, fixing his tie and robes as Iris spoke. Not much to look presentable for, but it was still worth an effort. He rumpled up his hair to make it look messier. "I agree, it's getting boring."
Iris made one last adjustment to his outfit. "That prying little bitch Sedna isn't around anymore," he commented. Ah, Sedna. The cordovan-colored planet far off somewhere in the Kuiper Belt. Always trying to catch the two off guard and snitching on them, it was frustrating.
