A/N: In celebration of the 60th chapter, I made something somewhat dedicated to my 6th chapter.. but it's a little different. Thank you all for reading :)
STORY OUTLINE: After Mars calls out Earth's behavior, Earth begs Venus to stay. How was Venus to know Earth would ruin him like this?
TIMELINE: PRE EARTH'S REDEMPTION | right after Mars vs Venus and before Earth Alone Part 1
PERSPECTIVE: Venus
SHIPS: none... but can be seen as Vearth, but it's not very happy.
CONTENT WARNINGS:
- Emotional Manipulation (kinda)
- Emotional Dependency
- Canon DivergenceAUTHORS NOTE: I see a lot of people sympathizing for Earth, which I do too, but I'm not victimizing him. I saw that flaw with my 6th chapter, and that didn't sit right with me. So, I decided to make this chapter. This isn't character slander.. it's just me trying to put a deeper meaning into canon events and relationships.
Also, if you saw me post this chapter twice, no you didn't. There was this AWFUL spelling error that I didn't notice until RIGHT AFTER I PUBLISHED THE STORY and I panicked so bad. So that's why

Venus blocked out every noise around him, including Mars' voice as he began to walk away. The world started to grow gray at its edges, the drone of voices morphing into a dead buzzing around his ears.
He'd thought—
Earth had said—
All that time they've spent together. Every passionate conversation about life, every lingering feeling in his core. None of it was real. When Earth would pull him close and wrap his arms around his chest, when he said time and time again that Venus was his friend. Those were all lies. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to laugh or cry, the need to do both pulsed through him in alternating waves of heat, until the cold eventually overtook him and left him numb, rooted in the middle of this godforsaken place.
After a moment, his brain finally caught up. He registered the sound of Earth's voice, but it still sounded distorted, like he's shouting into a bucket. Venus raised his gaze from his empty hands to seek out the other planet- the one he cared for so dearly-'s face.
He hasn't moved from his position before them, calling out to Venus. Venus only picks up bits of what he's saying. Earth swallowed, and immediately caught Venus staring.
Venus searched his eyes, eyes he's spent years gazing into adoringly. The same eyes that showed him passion and power and kindness. Blue-green eyes that stood up for him not too long ago. Eyes he'd thought he knew so well. He scanned them, desperately probing them. Seeking out something, remorse- guilt- pain- something. But for the first time, when Venus looked into his eyes - he found nothing. No light, or passion. There aren't stars swirling in those infinite pools, no flickering flame from the rays of The Sun. It's as though Earth was a statue, carved of ebony, cold and stiff. His eyes are cut away, full of depth but not much else, just dark hollow holes. And still Venus searched them, willing himself to find something there, some softness, an apology, but they're empty.
Tearing their gaze away, Venus began walking away.
"Venus?"
He froze, shoulders squaring up around his shoulders, because Earth's voice was so soft, so careful. And Venus so wants to believe that he cares.
He doesn't turn, but he could hear Venus shuffling behind him. "Stay?" Something flared up in his stomach at the word, something vile. A writing beast, howling out in anguish.
"Stay?" he repeated as he spun around on his heel to face Earth once more. God, he wished Earth was shorter than him, so that Venus wouldn't feel so timid and frail. Venus barked out a harsh laugh, but there's no humor in it, maybe it was actually a sob. He wasn't sure. "This wasn't a real friendship."
