A/N: GOD this was fun to write. I love any fics with this event in mind, and I was somewhat inspired by "Wasted Summers" by Raspberrylover28 on a03, so shoutout to them.
I love pre-redemption Earth stories, his actions are bad but he is a fun character to write! I hope you enjoy the ride. I also made this chapter with a couple readers in mind, so shout out to you as well.
MIND THAT THIS MAY HAVE SOME CANON DIVERGENCE and it is a LITTLE difficult to write certain characters. Be patient with me, please!
Enjoy :)

The Solar System was buzzing with news, and moons and planets alike had gathered in small groups to read and discuss a supposed 'important announcement' made by the Earth.
Earth was always one for drama, see, gossip was an art and he had mastered it. So when he discovered the enlightening changes his earthlings had made, he just had to share it! He somehow had managed to print several copies off a newspaper to share it around. Oh, this was gonna be the talk of the system for ages.
Pluto was no longer a planet.
"Have you read this!?" Earth yelled, grabbing a stack of papers and waving them. Mars' eyebrows knitted together as he saw the spectacle, clearly not happy. Luna's lips were pressed in a thin line, but he didn't say anything. Several curious eyes turned to them. The shockwave was immediate. Many objects, mainly moons, grabbed the papers and read them with widened eyes.
Not so long after, Pluto had came into the inner solar system with his biggest moon, Charon, utterly confused. Earth immediately caught his presence, and grinned. This was too good.
Snatching a stack of the copies from Venus, Earth began throwing the papers into the air, letting them float to other gravitational pulls. The pages fluttered down like confetti, and he could see Pluto's face drop in horror. "You ain't never gonna be a planet now!" Earth shouted musically. a triumphant grin on his face.
The surrounding area erupted into a mixture of laughter, gasps, and murmurs of disbelief. Charon looked between Earth and Pluto, as if deciding on whether to comfort Pluto or defend him. She walked up to Earth, seeming determined.
Earth crouched to her level, pointing out the specific points of the damning evidence. "And if you need why he's not a planet anymore..." the blue-green planet trailed off, flipping through several pages to jab a finger at a specific paragraph. "That is why. Enjoy!" he neatly put the papers back in place and handed it to her. Before Charon could reply, he walked away.
Fueled by the excitement, Earth instructed Mercury to send the message to The Sun. It was helpful to let his parent star know, wasn't it? Earth thrusted the incriminating papers into Mercury's hands, causing the smaller to slightly stumble back. "Look at this! The evidence is right here," he insisted, pointing out the undeniable evidence.
The major moons of Jupiter looked between each other with mixed reactions. Ganymede took the paper and handed it to Europa for her to see. Saturn approached the scene with concern, but even his sympathetic gaze couldn't shield Pluto from the harsh reality unfolding before him.
Earth wasn't done though. With Venus' assistance, he crumbled many papers and made sure everybody got the news.
As Pluto walked through, he felt the weight of the stares and heard the whispers grow louder. His heart raced, and his face flushed with panic. Suddenly, a barrage of papers hit him, fluttering to the ground like a storm of accusations. He picked one up and felt his stomach drop as he read the words. Tears pricked at his eyes as he looked up at the golden-lit blue planet slightly ahead of him.
"Well, he's never gonna be a planet now," Earth spoke smugly, purposely stealing glances right at Pluto for his reaction. "That's one less thing to worry about," he emphasized each word, relishing the moment as he threw another paper at his feet.
His tears threatened to spill out of Pluto's eyes as he held back a strangled sob. His suffering was hardly noticed by Earth, who reveled in the theatrics of it all. "Your Earthlings can't just keep making things up while you expect us to follow it!" he protested, finally speaking up.
Earth, who seemed way too engaged in a conversation between his moon, Venus, and Mars, pretended not to see him at first. He finally turned to address Pluto. "My Earthlings have always been quick to adapt to their resources, and so far they've managed to literally discover every single one of us and went to their moon. I think they have a good grasp on what can be a planet or not."
"They're not even—" Pluto began through gritted teeth.
"Guys, that's enough," Jupiter interrupted their argument, causing everyone to turn his way. Pluto held onto the fleeting chance he'd manage to reason with Earth. "Both of you have a point, but you can't just publicly humiliate Pluto in front of everybody, Earth. You could've asked Mercury to send a message to the Sun and wait for his answer."
Earth squinted, as if searching out the validity of that suggestion. "Well," he finally said, "my point still stands. He made his way over to Jupiter with reassured steps, stopping at his side to show him the newspapers. Some of the smaller moons were dragged by their combined gravitational pulls towards them, which was the point. "So, my Earthlings have made up some... rules for being considered a planet."
"Then what are they?" Pluto was glad his voice didn't crack, but it was hard to stay calm. He didn't even want to know.
"For starters, you have to be big enough to be spherical," Earth lifted his index finger. "Second, you need to orbit a star." He lifted his middle finger. "And three," he lifted his thumb. "You need to have an orbit free from space debris you can't clear."
Pluto swore the temperature dropped right then and there. The Kuiper Belt. His orbit was in the Kuiper Belt.
Jupiter sighed, laying a comforting hand on Pluto's shoulder. As quickly as it came, it was gone.
"And from what I've seen, you've made a nice little home for yourself in The Kuiper Belt, and I haven't seen you clearing all those asteroids." Earth patted the papers with elegance. Pluto felt like everyone's eyes were on him, and they probably were. His hands trembled, the rising panic in the bottom of his stomach growing. "Well, he's never gonna be a planet now," Earth repeated, the words one of the worst he'd ever heard.
"You best better run back where you come from," Earth grinned, gesturing sharply towards the Kuiper Belt.
Charon grabbed Pluto by the arm, dragging him away. It was clear she wasn't happy. As soon as he turned, he felt hot tears trail down his cheeks, freezing instantly. He gulped, knowing that his entire reputation had been ruined, and that his existence was just one big joke for Earth.
Seeing The Sun in the distance, Earth remembered he most likely had to head back his orbit. It'd be difficult for him to explain this, he realized quickly. Whatever. He'd had his cup of tea already. Turning to Luna, he feigned innocence, "Aw, that poor moon," he said, referring to Pluto.
Luna had his head bowed, remaining silent. Earth had a distant feeling that he'd upset his moon, but he didn't linger on it for long.

If you want me to, I MIGHT make a version where it's fully Pluto's perspective. But anyways... I hope I didn't make them too out of character. I can't lie, I had way too much fun writing this chapter. It is HARD to keep track of so many characters,
