F92 auto blank pistol, in black and gold. He had it for 3 years, sitting on the other side of the investigation wall.
Now, it's under the seat of his car.
His car roars. He tightens his grip on the wheel and makes and sharp turn down the street he was already in more than 13 hours ago. It felt like forever when he got the call that woke him up from Kim Hera, forever since he sped to Mr. Harrison's house, asking for explanations.
He's here again, not to ask for explanations, but to get an apology.
The porch lights are off, but Kai isn't planning on knocking. He walks around the house and gives himself a few strides before he jumps on one of the metal pipes trailing the side of the house. He grips the pipes with his gloves and pulls himself up; he lands on the overviewing terrace.
From then he picks the lock; grateful that it is wintertime, and the sun is already long gone making the darkness cover his actions.
He pushes the glass door that leads him to the gloomy living room; he waits until he hears the door rattle, a key is being pushed into the keyhole.
Kai loads his gun. The lights turn on.
The first thing catching his eye is the tomato escaping the grocery bag that fell from Mr. Harrison's hand and it rolls on the floor and behind the door. "Kai." his voice shakes.
"One chance." Kai points the gun. "You have one chance to tell me what you did."
Mr. Harrison sets the rest of the bags on the floor. There are more at the entrance of the house, his ice cream will melt if he doesn't put it in the freezer.
"You don't want to do this, Kai." He raises his hands. "You have a bright future ahead of you, don't ruin it."
"Talk."
"Kai... "
"Talk!" Kai's hand trembles, his face contorts painfully, and he swallows the bile in his throat. He looks at Mr. Harrison in his despicable eyes. Blue against black. Had he never seen the evil coming from those blue eyes?
Mr. Harrison sighs. "You should hear me out first, Kai. I did it for a reason." he bites his crusty lips under that neat gray mustache. "I had an obligation."
"An obligation?" Kai repeats; his voice broken.
"To clean our society." Mr. Harrison explains. His tone is clear and confident; unwavering. He looks at Kai with pity, just like he did that morning. Only now does he do it whilst admitting to ruining his life. "Your dad was defective, Kai," he says, and it baffles Kai that he says it while looking like he believes his own words. He is calm, and collected, unlike Kai which drives the younger crazy.
This is not how it should go.
No.
Mr. Harrison, should be the one feeling fearful so why does Kai look more scared than him?
"I did him a favor." Mr. Harrison adds. "Do you know what it is like, to suffer a mental illness that heavy?" He exhales sharply from his mouth and rubs his eyebrows with his thumb and pointer finger. He laughs, he laughs in Kai's face. "You probably do." He almost looks amused.
Kai shakes his head.
"Why?" Mr. Harrison asks with a taunting voice. "You are just like him. Are you not? Is this... why you are suffering too? Ask yourself Kai, are you happy?"
"Why did you kill him?"
"I already told you, Kai." he smiles. "I wanted to put him out of his misery... but-"his forehead creases. "Do you remember our recent lecture? About the people we're with?"
