Saafeyah asked herself how she ended up in this situation.

Having to present to the company executives her idea regarding updating the company interface for employees. It wasn't like she was the only one to bring ideas but, this one had been asked to be pitched to the CEO for some reason.

The reason was very simple.

Woojin was bored and wanted to mess with Saafeyah.

He sat at the head of the table as an anxious, trembling Saafeyah made her way through her presentation.

The man could barely hide his mischievous smile as Mr Choi silently prayed that he didn't say anything harsh. He knew newbies were quick to quit and expose them on Twitter for workplace everything.

He did not want to want to draft NDAs like a common hoodlum that week.

And this girl looked like she was nearing a panic attack...

Mr Choi was also very aware that newbies usually did not do presentations to company executives.

He had no idea what his boss was playing at.

"Why is there so much colour in the design Miss Kiala," Woojin asked interrupting the already nervous woman mid presentation.

"O-oh... I just thou-thought it would be good to use company colours."

She didn't want to say in front of everyone that the previous layout of just black and white made it hard for her to read... because she struggled with words and when it was black and white it all blended into one.

"I think it looks stupid," one of the men snickered causing the colour to drain from Mr Choi's face... yeah it was downhill from here.

"Who has a dark blue, grey and black interface? It looks unprofessional. How did you come to the conclusion that it's acceptable?"

Saafeyah took deep breaths looking down trying to stop herself from getting worked up or upset as the men in the room continued making fun of her.

She regretted trying to do something different.

But Woojin quietly watched Saafeyah try to shrink into herself as the men in the room continued to comment. He was going to intervene but Saafeyah didn't give him the chance to.

"E-excuse me, I-I'm just going to g-grab some presentation materials."
...

Saafeyah hid in the bathroom stall trying to not cry loudly.

She felt embarrassed that she had presented that idea.

She felt further embarrassed that she ran away instead of taking the criticism.

She just felt belittled.

"Open the door," the familiar calm deep voice demanded. "Are you upset?"

Saafeyah tried holding in her breath but, she failed miserably feeling even more embarrassed that the company boss had to come check on her.

It couldn't get worse.

"Saafeyah open this door right now," the voice asked sounding slightly panicked. "I'll make it worth your while."

Saafeyah thought for a moment. "W-what do I get for o-opening it?"

"Whatever you want," Woojin bartered. "I'll give you whatever you want."

Saafeyah slowly cracked the door open, "whatever I want?"

"Come here," Woojin asked already opening the door wider and pulling the sniffly girl out of the cubicle. "Blow your nose properly, it's going to get blocked," he gently instructed holding the tissue up to her nose.

Woojin was definitely an asshole but he hated the sight of Saafeyah crying. It was only natural that he felt angry at the thought that others were upsetting her as well.

Only he could bully her... not everyone else.

"Are you upset? Tell me, what made you upset."

"It doesn't matter," she quickly responded tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Let's just go back-"

"What did i just say?"

Saafeyah's throat felt clogged up again and she turned to face away from the man feeling upset that she was teary again.

She was feeling overwhelmed at that moment.

And Woojin for the first time in his life, felt someone's emotions like they were his own.

He didn't know whether the first time experience was overwhelming or whether he was feeling how overwhelmed Saafeyah was.

"Don't hide from me," he gently coaxed grabbing her hand and leading her to cry on his chest. He hugged her tightly releasing a steady stream of his pheromones. "Tell me who upset you."

The scent of waves and salty air helped calm Saafeyah down significantly. She burried herself deeper in Woojin's suit jacket settling for the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

"I'm dyslexic," she shared in a quiet voice. "Sometimes it's hard to read the company employee website because it's in black and white. Those colours help me navigate it a bit easier. I felt stupid when they made fun of me."

In that moment Saafeyah didn't know why she decided to share. Maybe it was the scent of the ocean and waves that made her feel calm... maybe she just wanted someone to know.

She had been feeling reluctant to bring up things like that because she was worried that she'd be mocked. She knew she was lucky to work somewhere so prestigious.

She didn't wanna be a bother.

"Okay," Woojin answered simply. "I understand."

Saafeyah detached from the man wiping her face. She peeked at his face to see a rather blank expression but didn't say anything.

"Wipe your face and go back to work after. You don't need to continue the presentation."

Saafeyah didn't know how to feel when Woojin simply turned and left the room. But she did as told and wiped her face returning to work with a heavy heart.
...

A week later, Saafeyah was surprised to log on to the employee portal and find that the interface she had designed and programmed had been implanted.

Colours and all.

There were also rumours that on the day of her presentation, Woojin was so angry that he made all executives present write him essays on why they should not be fired and workplace inclusion.
