"What are we dwoing?"

Taehyun was a bit fussy and did not want to get dressed. Saafeyah sighed trying to get his shoes on for the fifth time.

She was starting to get annoyed that he kept taking them off. But according to the internet, this too, was one of the joys of being a parent.

"I told you - we're going to meet up with your dad. Remember? You were excited about it."

Taehyun just sighed and Saafeyah wondered where all his attitude was coming from. Her well spoken, timid and well behaved son had been such a diva lately.

Surely not her son having his ferocious five...

He surely did not get an attitude from her. His dad was the pouty one.

"Are you unhappy chicken? If you tell me then we can talk and you can feel less worried."

"What if he doesn't lwike me mummy?"

At first Taehyun was very happy to meet his dad but then, he started to get worried.

What if he didn't like him?

What if he found him strange?

He was just anxious about the whole thing. Even if he didn't know how to express it.

And Saafeyah felt for the young boy. Because she knew how scary meeting people could be.

"If he doesn't like you, we throw him in the trash and move on with life. But... who could not like someone as golden as you." Saafeyah started ticking Taehyun to ease his nerves which made him laugh.

"Okay mummy, you are right," he smiled hugging her.

"I know," Saafeyah beamed finally watching her son act like himself. "It's going to go perfect."
...

"Woojin," Saafeyah whisper yelled, "this is way too much! What were you thinking?"

"How else am I supposed to show my son he's rich?"

"Why would a kid even need to know that?!"

"To shit on the other private school kids - babe, you just don't get it... those kids are assholes."

"Wooji-"

"Mummy, what is gwoing on," Taehyun asked staring up at the two adults.

He hadn't been to theme parks often but whenever he had gone to one, it was never empty. He was extremely confused but also... very excited.

He just wanted his mom to tell him what was happening.

Although Taehyun would wait in line, he hated waiting and being patient. He just did it to be praised by his mom.

"Seems like your dad rented the park just for you," Saafeyah explained crouching to his eye level. "You know the nice man that comes over sometimes right? He's your dad."

"Nice to meet you, Taehyun-ah," Woojin greeted getting down to his eye level as well. "I really want us to get comfortable with each other. I'd really like it if you gave me the chance to be dad."

Taehyun didn't know how to feel.

And his silence made Saafeyah very anxious. She had tried to ease him into the idea of meeting his dad. Maybe she shouldn't have done it this way...

"How about we don't worry too much about any of this right now Taehyun-ah," Woojin asked lifting Taehyun up. "You have the whole park - aren't you super excited to go on the rides?!"

Taehyun smiled widely at Woojin liking the idea of that instead. Woojin knew that it wouldn't be easy to get the five year old out of nowhere to recognise him as his father. He was willing to earn the title.

And he would do as many small or big gestures as it took.

"I want to go on the water rwides!"
...

Woojin smiled lovingly at his son as he ate his burger. Taehyun was fighting sleep but also wanted to eat his burger. He had been on every ride he ever wanted to go and that made him happy.

And his happiness made Saafeyah's heart feel full.

"Are you tired baby," Saafeyah asked the little one as she stroked his hair. "We can always wrap the burger and take it home."

Woojin took the opportunity to wipe the sauce from around his mouth.

"But I can fwinish it mummy," he groggily replied. Him chewing so slowly made Saafeyah and Woojin smile at each other.

Woojin always thought the only person he'd love is Saafeyah. He never thought there was another person in the world he could tolerate.

But, here was Taehyun.

Another anomaly to his world yet he was strangely comfortable.

"You wanna eat the hamburger in the car kiddo."

Taehyun looked at Woojin genuinely considering the offer. He really liked how much fun he had with him. If having a dad was this fun, he liked it.

But he wasn't sure if he wanted to call him dad yet. He was used to just calling him uncle... he was very conflicted.

"You're thinking so hard," he commented fixing a strand of the boys curly hair. "Do you want to think out loud and let me in?"

"How... what should I call you?"

Saafeyah looked worriedly at Woojin not too sure about how he was going to take the question. Saafeyah couldn't imagine Taehyun being unsure of whether she was mummy... she wouldn't know what to say.

"One day I would like you to call me dad... but, I know it's too early for that. So you can call me what you're comfortable and I'll work my way to dad, deal?"

"Deal," Woojin agreed happily stretching out his pinkie. "Let's seal the deal Jinjin!"

Woojin chuckled hearing the nickname. He interlocked his pinkie with his son making a promise as well.

"You two are so cute," Saafeyah cooed. "You make my heart so freaking warm. I feel like my heart will burst."

"Hold your heart sweetheart, and for now, we need to get this sleepy one to the car. You're barely holding on."

"Jinjin, when is the next time we can come here," Taehyun asks resting his head on his father's shoulder. He liked that when his dad carried him, he was so high up in the air.

"Whenever you want."
