Lucy's POV:

I watched Emily, tears were streaming down her face. Hearing that voicemail made me sick to my stomach. How can a father speak to their child or anyone like that. He was obviously a very sick man.

I took the phone from Emily's shaky hands. I think we had both heard enough, even though I was sure there was more messages left to listen to, I don't think she needed to. As I put the phone on the side I noticed Emily's breathing start to pick up. She hasn't moved since I took the phone, just staring blankly at the floor in front of us. I tried to calm her down, knowing she was about to have a panic attack. My words didn't seem to register in her head though, but i carried on hoping they would.

"Hey Emily try and take deep breaths. You're safe. It's just me and you" i tell her my tone soft trying not to make the situation worse, if that was even possible.
I rubbed my hand up and down her back until her breathing returned to a somewhat normal rate. Her tears hadn't subsided though so I layed back on the sofa, gently guiding her with me until her head was rested on my chest.
I didn't know if it was my place to make suggestions, but I think it would be best to call the police. The threats he was making were serious but I didn't know how Emily would feel about it.

Once she had calmed down, she sat up sighing as she wiped her cheeks. She sat next to me on the sofa, turning so we were facing each other.

" what do you want to do em?" I asked her, not wanting to push my thoughts about this on her.

"I don't know lucy, I'm scared. He always means what he says. I don't want to go back there but he won't stop until I do." She tells me her voice hoarse and defeated

"I won't let anything happen to you. You're not going back there Emily. I won't let it happen. I think we should contact the police and explain to them." I told her, trying not to overwhelm her with the idea but knowing it would be for the best. The way her face changed indicated she didn't like the idea

"No, I don't want to her the police involved. I can deal with him I just need to figure out how" she told me her voice firm. I sighed, it didn't feel right leaving this in her hands but by the looks of it she was determined to deal with it by herself. I didn't like the fact he would be free to do whatever he wanted

"Emily, I really think-" I tried, but before I could finish my plea Emily interrupted me

" no police, Lucy please" she practically begged and the look in her eye made me give in to her.

" we have a few days until Friday. If I don't figure out what to do by then, we can call the police. But just let me try." She said, her voice uneasy.

I complied, not happy with the outcome of the conversation but I could tell by Emily's demeanor that it would be best to leave it for now. She had a match tomorrow which me and Keira had agreed to go to, wanting to support her. Noticing the time I suggested we head to bed, mentally deciding to pick this up another time.

Emily looked physically and emotionally exhausted so she agreed without any arguments. We headed upstairs, both of us getting ready for bed separately.

Once I had brushed my teeth I climbed into bed, but before I could turn the lamp off, my bedroom door creaked open revealing a nervous looking Emily.

"Can I stay with you tonight, i don't want to be alone" she asked, her voice timid as she lingered at the door

"Of course. Come here" I said instantly. She was obviously shaken from earlier and I don't blame her. As much as I tried to act strong for her, I was scared too. I didn't know to full extent of what her father was capable of but I knew it wasn't good. I liked the idea of her being next to me, it brought me comfort knowing she was safe and I think Emily felt the same.
