# *Author's pov*

Jasper Martinez woke up to his dad aggressively calling his name. From how heavy Mr Martinez's voice sounded, Jasper in his hangovers could tell that he was angry. The only thing he could not depict was why.

"What did I do now?" Jasper shrugged as he struggled to sit up.
"What time is it? Is it not too early for you to wake me up? And why the hell are you so loud?" Jasper was still asking questions when a heavy slap landed on his face. Flashes of lights passed rapidly before his eyes and without knowing his hangovers were gone.

"Never talk to me like that again. I am your father."

"I am sorry, dad." Jasper apologized

"When you came in last night you said you had your car outside. I can't find it anywhere. Why's that?"

"It's outside. You just missed it. I brought it back."

"Okay, come show the car." Mr Martinez spoke with a small grin on his rounded face.
Jasper stood up and walked outside confidently. His dad walked right behind him.

"Hi, Mom." Jasper said to his mom who was cleaning the living room.

"Hi, Honey." Mrs Martinez responded

Jasper and his dad stepped out of the house and headed for the parking lot.
Jasper stopped walking as he took stock of the surroundings.
His heart started to pound inside his chest. He was looking around and there was no sign of his car.

"Where is it?" Mr Martinez asked
Jasper's heart pounded more at his dad's question. He opened his eyes wide and tried to have a clear look but still he could not spot the car.
Turning around slowly with his fingers crossed together, he spoke in a soft voice;

"I brought it back. You have to believe me."

"Think harder. Think about it and tell me whether you brought the car back." Mr Martinez suggested
Jasper allowed himself to think and in a few seconds memories of the previous night came rushing back into his mind.
He had not driven himself back from the lake house. He had rather been dropped off by Isaac and Alan after looking for his car and not finding it.

"Do you remember now?"

Jasper remained silent. He was looking at his dad with puppy eyes begging for mercy silently.

"Seems like you do remember." Mr Martinez spoke
"Take a look at this." He added and extended his phone to Jasper. Jasper slowly reached for the phone and dropped his gaze on it.
He breathed heavily at his first glimpse. He could not believe what he was looking at. He was looking at his car which was wrecked and on the side panel was scribbled words saying that the Martinez are jerks.

Jasper's hands started shaking and he almost dropped his dad's phone but luckily his dad fetched it before it hit the ground.

"You see, you have disappointed me, Jasper. I am not even shocked because it's not your first time. But this time you crossed the line. We are a respected family but now you have embarrassed us and changed the narrative. We are now being referred to as J..." Mr Martinez swallowed his words. He could not bring himself to say the J word.
"You are a spoiled little boy and that stops now. You are not getting another car and you'll no longer get any allowances."

"But dad...

"Don't interrupt me when I am talking, boy." Mr Martinez cut Jasper short.
"You are grounded and you'll come straight home after school. You are not allowed to have people over anymore." Mr Martinez spoke
"And don't you dare pull any stunts on me, Jasper because I promise you that you're going to regret it.
Now get out of my face. I can't stand looking at you." He added.
Jasper walked away hurriedly feeling sad. At the entrance door, he bumped into his mom who was listening to their conversations.
