Returning to work was pretty emotional for me as this is my final week on set of The Walking Dead so the behind the scenes footage is now being documented. I never thought that I would be able to star in a television series as big as this or that I would be reunited with my ex husband.
I know that my character is not dying this season but I am unsure of whether I will be brought back for the next season. With that in mind, I am going to make the most of this experience as it is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Reimagining Catwoman for this role was a pretty scary one as I worried about the controversy it would bring and I questioned why they wanted a DC character in a zombie series. Taking on the role allowed me to see that they were simply taking inspiration from my former role and turning it into something deeper where I am able to explore my character.
There was not much of a backstory in Catwoman but this woman here was somebody that I am proud to play and being able to bring her story to life is something that I hold near to my heart. I have played a multitude of characters over the past three decades but this one has been the most challenging one yet as I have been through so much in my personal life and I would consider it to be my best role yet.
"Nothing could have prepared us for the devastation that the dead come to life would bring." I stare down at Negan who is looking up at me with fascination. "I was not somebody that people remembered but I had my role to play as did all my people who were simply individuals who made a difference, no matter how big or small."
"Who were you?" He softly asks as he takes a seat on the desk chair and I tilt my head to the side.
"A doctor." I answer honestly. "I was not anything big like a surgeon or a highly valued doctor but I played my part in society."
Negan nods his head in understanding.
"My people are made up of those who were healers but we had to change our ways because this world needed more than healing. There were those who built factions like yourselves and would set out to terrorise others. We were forced to heal their sick and injured before they would take advantage of us." I bite down on my bottom lip to stop myself from crying. "We had to learn how to fight after losing many and we started to become ruthless when all we wanted was to be left alone."
"You were surviving."
"And then you came along." I hiss at him. "You came with the Saviors trying to bargain with us then attacked us when we refused."
