"miss stephens, i can explain." hartley said when she got up.

"save your breath. i've seen enough. i came all the way to valley view to meet you, and it's clear you're not taking any of this seriously." mary said.

"i mean, first the little hand thing, then the do-si-do. then you ran headfirst into a wall of plastic bricks."

"without a helmet. at least give her credit
for that." colby said.

"i'm sorry. i just don't think you have what it takes to be sunshine club president of the year. but i will take one of those crab cakes." she said grabbing a plate then walking away.

"wait! hartley worked really hard to make today perfect for you. and, you know, sometimes you
just can't control everything. maybe today didn't turn out as well as it should have, but hartley is the best sunshine club president there is." amy stepped forward and said.

mary stephen's sighed, "no, it's true. i mean, she even makes me want to..." elaine said, walking next to amy.

"spread a little sunshine." elaine said, her voice cracking in disgust.

"that's very nice to hear, but the sunshine club
is about helping the community, not just one person." mary said.

"hartley helps everyone. i mean, she feeds the hungry, heals the sick, raises the dead.okay, just the first one, but i felt like i needed a list." amy said.

"just please give her another chance." elaine said.

"well, i did choose hartley as a finalist because of the work she's done all year. so i guess i shouldn't base my decision on just one event. i'll take that into consideration." she said.

"thank you." hartley said. mary stephens walked away, and amy and elaine put an arm around hartley.

"well, looks like you three have a lot of cleaning up to do, so..." colby said, speeding away and hitting the door.

elaine reached out her free hand, using her mind powers to bring him back to the main area.

"okay, seriously, who keeps closing these doors?" colby yelled.

-

elaine sat in her room, a ball of fire in her hand splitting, conjoining, getting bigger, getting smaller.

a knock was heard on her door, to the beat of can't stop singing from teen beach movie.

"gosh colbs come in." elaine said, and colby slowly opened the door.

he started to blow the fire, and elaine laughed at him.

the ball of fire dissapeared and elaine brushed the ashes off her hands.

"you cannot just blow it away colbs."

"worth a shot. thought the chosen one could do it." colby said, sitting on elaine's bed.

"you and this chosen one. enough." elaine said poking her finger inter his chest.

colby groaned, grabbing elaine and pulling her down with him onto the bed.

"i missed you." he said. "you saw me earlier." elaine said.

"too long ago." colby said as they layed on the bed. he gave her and quick kiss, making a blush come to elaine's cheeks.

suddenly someone came through her opened window, and elaine pushed colby off the bed when she saw who is dad.

"mom? dad?" she said. colby groaned as he stood up, his eyes widening.

"we need to talk you to centropolis, but it's gonna be for a while.." her mom said.

"what?"

"no, no no. you can't just do that. you can't keep taking her away!" colby said, walking forward.

"stay out of this kid." mr. brown said. "no! she's my girlfriend and i love her. and you're always taking her away to "train". she already knows how to handle her powers, why are you taking her still!" colby said.

"listen, onyx isn't gone. and he's after elaine, and he's also after you too. chosen one. he will kill us, and your family to get both of you. his daughter is alive too, helping him. she needs to defeat him, that's why." mr. brown said.

colby immediately stopped talking, shocked and scared about what he just heard.

"let's go elaine." ms. brown said, taking elaine's arm.

"lainey?"

"i love you colbs." elaine said. "i love you too."
