The sun's rays filter into my room, gently waking me from my slumber. I stir, feeling the warmth beside me and realising that Soren had moved during the night to my side of the bed.
A wave of confusion washes over me for a moment because last time I remembered Grey was lying in the middle, I sit up slightly to find the pup curled under the blankets at the edge of the bed.
Lying back, I couldn't help but reflect on how different my life has become. I spent so many years feeling isolated, wondering what it would be like to have a real family. Now, with Soren and Grey beside me , I know I have found exactly that.
I reach out, gently brushing a lock of hair from Soren's forehead, feeling an overwhelming sense of love towards the Alpha. For the first time in a long while, I feel truly at peace.. talk about timing with war approaching and everything.
This was my life now or will be when we kill Alpha Charlie—a life filled with love, warmth, and the family I had always longed for. With a sigh I slip out of bed, quietly to avoid waking Soren up.
I want a moment to myself, to think clearly because I am about to lose my family..I need to do something about the Zipclaw pack.
I continue to the kitchen, deciding to make breakfast. The simple act of doing things for the people I love has always been therapeutic for me, and now it feels even more special knowing I am doing it for my mate too.
I pull out ingredients, enjoying the routine and the quiet of the early morning.
As I crack eggs into a bowl, my thoughts drift back to the countless lonely mornings I have spent wishing for days where I spent with my mate and pack. The pain of my childhood memories is still here, but it is now overshadowed by the warmth of the present.
The sound of footsteps behind me pull me from my thoughts.
I turn to see Soren standing in the doorway, his hair tousled and a sleepy smile on his face.
"What are you doing?" he yawns, his voice husky with sleep.
"Morning," I smile , feeling my heart swell with affection. "I am just making breakfast. How do you like your eggs?"
He walks over and wraps his arms around me from behind, resting his chin on my shoulder. "However you make them is perfect," he murmurs.
In that moment, I realise just how lucky I am. Despite all the hardships and loneliness I had endured, I had finally found my place, my family in Soren. I will do everything in my power to protect him.
As we stand there together, wrapped in each other's warmth, Timothy walks in, making me pull away slightly, but Soren tightens his grip, refusing to let go. "Please save all of that for the bedroom," Timothy grimaced, clearly annoyed.
I tried to stifle a laugh and turn my attention to the stove. "I'm making eggs. Want some?" I ask, ignoring Soren, who is still glued to my back.
Timothy smiles and shakes his head. "No, I can't eat. I'm too nervous to keep anything down."
I frown, concerned. "You sure? You need your energy."
He waves me off. "I'll grab something later, I promise."
Soren finally releases me, giving Timothy a playful shove. "You need to eat."
I look between them before speaking again "We will make you a smoothie" I suggest,
Timothy sighs, relenting. "Fine, a smoothie it is"
I move to the fridge, grabbing some fruit. "Coming right up," I say, grateful for these moments of normalcy in the middle of upcoming war.. As I blend the smoothie, Soren starts to help me with breakfast and soon William, Tyler, and Caleb join us.
