"Midoriya, L/n," Todoroki's voice called out to the two students, making them turn around.

Y/n hummed, "Todoroki, right?" They asked, "What's up?"

"I think it's fair to say that, from an objective standpoint, I am stronger than Midoriya," He started, "And I can also admit L/n is stronger than me," Y/n smiled smugly, "However, you both have All Might in your corner helping you out," Y/n's smile fell, "I'm not here to pry about what's going on between all of you, but know that I will beat you both."

Todoroki's face was dead serious, it almost made Y/n laugh. Him? Beat them? What an amusing pipe dream, "I'm afraid you only got two things right," Y/n held up two fingers, "You're stronger than Midoriya, and," They pointed at themself, a smug smile forming on their normally bored face, "I'm stronger than you, Todoroki!"

Midoriya didn't say a word, looking back and forth between his two classmates. Y/n was slightly in front of him, shielding Midoriya from Todoroki's icy cold glare.

"Woah, woah!" A new voice butted in, "What's with all these declarations of war lately?" Kaminari asked, leaning back in his chair.

"Yeah!" Eijiro said, getting up from his chair and approaching the three, "What's the big deal?" He asked, putting his hand on Todoroki's shoulder, "Why are you picking a fight all of the sudden? And right before we get started!"

Todoroki pushed Eijiro away, "We're not here to be each other's friends," He turned around, "Don't forget: this isn't a team effort," He said as he walked off.

Midoriya looked to the floor, finally raising his voice, "Wait a sec, Todoroki," He clenched his fists, "I don't know what's going through your head, or why you think you need to tell me that you'll beat me.. And yeah," Midoriya sighed, "You're way better than me! You probably have more potential than almost everyone in the hero course, that's why you got in so easily-"

"Midoriya," Eijiro interrupted, "Maybe you're being a little hard on yourself... and us-"

"No, he's right you guys," Midoriya swallowed the lump in his throat, "All of the other courses are coming for us with everything they've got! We're all going to have to fight to stand out," Midoriya finally raised his head, looking directly at Todoroki, "And I'll be aiming for the top, too."

For a moment, Todoroki didn't say a word. Everything was silent, "... Fine," He said, before turning around and leaving.

After that, no one else really spoke to each other, everyone was too busy preparing to make small talk.

Soon after, everyone was ushered out of the waiting room, and taken to the field. The shining sun made Y/n wince as it pricked on their skin.

Every one of their classmates seemed determined to win, every single one was prepared and ready.

Fireworks blasted from above as music played, it really was a large event, "Welcome back to the U.A sport's festival!" A voice from a speaker cheered, "Where up-and-coming heroes will give everything on the field as they fight for the chance to achieve world wide fame and celebrity!

"This first group," He continued, "Are no stranger to the spotlight! You know them from withstanding a villain attack! They're the dazzling students lighting up your Tvs with solid-gold skills! That's right! It's the hero course students of Class 1-A!"

The crowd cheered for the group of students coming onto the field. The attention was foreign to Y/n. As a demon slayer, they had never been praised and adored by so many people at once.

Everyone loved heroes.

"Oh.." Midoriya shook, "I didn't know there'd be so many people..."

"I hope we're still able to give our best performances even though all these eyes are watching us.."

Midoriya nodded, "L-look, even Y/n's scared!" He shouted pointing at the obviously nervous and shook Y/n.

"Oh?" They tilted their head, "Ah.. it's simply a lot of people.. Anyone would be scared of this!"

Tenya nodded, "I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero we musta get used to."

"Present Mic," Was that the man on the speaker? "Sure did talk us up a lot.. Kinda makes me nervous, how you feelin', man?" Eijiro laughed, looking to Bakugo.

"I'm not worried," Bakugo said as he smiled ominously, "Makes we wanna win this thing even more!"

1-A's conversation was cut short by Present Mic's words, "This next group hasn't been getting nearly as much screen time, but they're still chock full of talent!" He introduced, "Welcome, hero course Class 1-B!"

Y/n looked around for their friends (though they'd never admit that's what they were). Monoma and Y/n made eye contact, Y/n waved at him.

"Next up! General studies classes C, D, and E!" Y/n could recognize the purple haired nuisance from two weeks prior, "Support classes F, G, and H! And finally, the business classes I, J, and K!"

"Give it up for all of U.A's first year contestants!"

All of the first years made their way to the brown box in the middle of the field. In front of them was a hero unfamiliar to Y/n. She had dark black hair, and a strange jumpsuit on, "Now!" She spoke, "The introductory speech!"

"Miss Midnight should really think about what she wears.." Eijiro said, blushing.

"And now, for the student pledge: we have Y/n L/n!"

Y/n looked around for a moment, before walking towards the stage. They hadn't been given any prior notice, they weren't sure what to say.

Y/n stepped onto the podium and looked around, "Uh..." They paused, thinking of what to say, "You should give it your all," They spoke into the microphone, "Entertain me, won't you?"

"Y-Y/n!" Midoriya stuttered amidst the rising of 'BOO's' being thrown at them, "Y- You can't say stuff like that!"

"Why would you be so disrespectful?!" Tenya shouted, "You represent us all!"

Y/n turned around and faced Tenya, a confused look etched onto their face, "... Disrespectful?" They asked, "Oh, Ten-Ten! We've been over this!" They laughed, "It isn't rude or cocky if I'm telling the truth!"
