Y/n frowned, it had been another week since their talk with Izuku and nothing of interest had really happened since.
After talking with All Might, he had allow them to accompany him to the beach every other day, as well as take them on walks to get them used to the sun again!
In the early morning they'd study from 5:oo A.M to 10:00 A.M, then take a walk with All Might till 12:00 PM, go to the beach with Izuku until 6:00 PM, watch All Might eat dinner, then secretly train until they were too tired to move their arms.
The worst part of their day had to be studying. It turned out they probably weren't from the past, because if they were they'd be good at history.
All Might cheered them up when they stared beating themself up, saying things like 'as long as you try your best,' or reassuring them they would get into U.A anyways since Nezu took such an interest in them.
It didn't help. It wasn't getting into U.A that worried them, it was that their own pride was crushed.
Today, their pride had been reduced to ashes, it seems. It looked even worse than a demon in sun. Y/n had just been working on math, but when they turned in their mock-test, they got everything wrong.
Toshinori sighed at them, "Y/n," He started, they had been on first name basis for a while now, "There is only a week left to study, you must cram harder!" He exclaimed, determined, "We must go Plus Ultra!"
"What?" Y/n said simply, looking up from the table their head was laying on in utter despair, "Are you saying I'm not good enough?" They sniffled.
All Might looked taken aback, "Y/n! I meant no such thing!" He tried to assure the heart broken slayer, "It's just- well- you can do it, you just have to try!"
That didn't stop the tears welling in their eyes, of course. Their pride was wounded! They had to be good at everything and they just... weren't right now!
What hurt even more was the fact that they didn't need to be perfect, just mediocre and they were still failing miserably.
Nothing Toshinori could say would cheer them up. Well, maybe besides one thing, "How about we take a break and go eat somewhere?" Y/n perked up at the thought. They didn't need to eat due to their demon origins, but it was always fun! And they hadn't done it in so long!
Toshinori's cooking was rancid, so they never took one bite of that stuff. But, it would be fine if they went out, right? Smiling, Y/n took their guardian's scrawny hand, and beamed, "Great! Because your cooking is awful, Toshinori!"
All Might flinched at the blunt comment. Y/n did that a lot, it seemed. As if they had no clue what they were saying was offensive in the slightest.
It's not as if All Might was too butt hurt about it, though. It just added to their charm, "Y/n, we can go out on a walk and get whatever food you want," He offered, much to Y/n's delight.
They hated sit-in restaurants. It was unfamiliar to them since they were always on the move with no time to sit down. Vendors on the street were always a safe option.
Plus, that way their stupid crow wouldn't have to follow them inside the enclosed space! If there was one thing Y/n didn't miss, it was their annoying crow. They named him Uzai, the only name that seemed to fit them perfectly.
Honestly, Toshinori was a lot like that thick-skulled crow of theirs...
Y/n smiled up at their guardian, "Come on! You're boring me to death, All Might!" They said, yawning before dragging him out of the small house.
All Might gasped, "Y-Y/n! You mustn't pull people around like this!" He reprimanded.
Y/n, of course, didn't listen, "Then fight back, Toshinori! Challenge me, how about?" Their face was amused, but not nearly as proud as All Might had expected. He assumed it was because they knew he wouldn't do anything.
Contrary to his first conception of the other-worlder, they were an easy read. Because they tried to be. It was strange, despite being teasing and smiling when it was obvious they weren't happy, they never liked lying.
Toshinori liked that about them.
"Y/n, I'm not going to fight you!" He said loudly, though not as loud as he wanted it to be.
Y/n rolled their dull eyes, "I know, Toshinori." They said, disappointment seeping through their tone.
Y/n slowed down, letting Toshinori walk at his own pace as well. Their eyes drooped, as they looked up at the blazing sun. It burned.
Not as much as it had a week ago, but it still felt like needles were stabbing into their skin. Wrapped up in their pain, they didn't notice a blonde boy walking towards the two.
His head was in the clouds, thinking about... whatever.
Y/n felt themself run into something hard, and looking up they saw burning red eyes. They kept a blank face, "Sorry, sir." They said as they bowed, before leaving.
Of course, nothing in this world ever worked out for the half-demon. The blonde let out a sound akin to the growl of a dog before shouting, "Oi! Shit head! Stick Man! You better get back here right now!!" He shouted.
Y/n looked behind them in confusion, then looked to their guardian, "Toshinori... Is he talking to us?" They asked, discomfort written all over their face.
The pro's eyes softened at this, before looking back at the angry boy and steeling, "You mustn't make such a racket, young man!" He said confidently, "That's not the makings of a good citizen!"
The boy growled as if he were a dog, and Y/n's face turned from discomfort to disgust. They stepped towards him, to which he jumped back and growled again, "Haah, where are your owners?" They asked, their tone exasperated and dull.
"The hell do you mean owner-"
"They should know to keep untrained dogs on a leash."
