Y/n walked up the stairs and turned, finding Todoroki at the top, eavesdropping. Y/n gave him a small smile, "I thought you were with Izu," They said, "Were you looking for your father? He's already left."

Todoroki shook his head, "I came here for you, Y/n," He said, "You and Midoriya... aren't All Might's children, are you?" The dull, almost confused expression on the boy's face made Y/n have to hold in a laugh.

"No, not in the slightest," Y/n's smile fell soon after they spoke, "I don't believe Toshinori has any kids.. but I am the closest thing he's ever gotten to one."

"You two got into a fight earlier."

"So observant, aren't you, Todoroki?" Y/n laughed, "You know, your father is a strange man," They said, tapping a finger on their chin, "Nothing like you, honestly... He's so... hostile. You're calm, Todoroki, I like that about you."

Todoroki didn't respond for a moment. He blinked, staring at Y/n, "I heard you talking," He finally spoke up, "You told him he reminded you of someone. Who is Rengoku Kyojuro?"

"No one important to you."

Y/n's smile fell at the mention of their mentor. Rengoku Kyojuro's name was one Y/n believed should be used with respect, not tossed around like nothing.

"He seemed important to you. You've mentioned him to yourself before, too-"

"Todoroki?" Y/n interrupted, "Stop sticking your nose into matters that don't involve you, okay?"

Todoroki nodded, "My apologies, L/n," He bowed slightly, "What I really came to tell you, was that I will beat you," He stood tall again, "I know you're strong, and you beat me in the race, but if we fight against each other, I will be the victor."

Y/n hummed, "Is that so, Todoroki Shoto?" They asked him condescendingly, "We'll see, won't we?"

Y/n walked past their classmate, continuing down the halls as they hummed.

Todoroki Shoto was strong. Y/n could admit that much. Just as strong as Y/n? They doubted it. But, Y/n was weaker than they had been in a while. They weren't able to access their sword, and their body was reacting even worse than normal to the sunlight.

But, Y/n had something Todoroki didn't have. An insatiable, uncontainable need to win. Todoroki wanted to beat Y/n, but he refused to use the full extent of his power. Y/n, on the other hand, would do anything they could to land on top in a challenge.

"Hey."

A sudden call out to Y/n brought them out of their trance. They looked around for a moment, pinpointing the voice. It was their teacher, Aizawa.

Y/n hummed, walking over to him, "Hello, Aizawa," They greeted, "What do you need?"

"I came to tell you something," He told the half demon, "You will be allowed to use your sword for the third round of the sport's festival."

Y/n's eyes widened, "What? Really?" They asked, not fully believing him, "Why?"

"Well," Aizawa started, "I was able to talk Midnight and the other staff into it. They said that you'll be permitted to use it during the games as long as you don't permanently injure someone."

Y/n's mouth was slightly agape, "You're... trusting me?" Aizawa was one of the people most skeptical about Y/n. Perhaps it was because he knew the most about them, but it never seemed like he fully trusted them. He was cautious around them, he tried to appease them as much as he could. Y/n had always assumed it was out of fear.

"Yes, Y/n," Aizawa nodded, "I'm trusting you, so don't disappoint me. Please."

Y/n hummed, "I don't understand something, Aizawa."

"And what is that?"

"Why you and the other pro heroes have such a hard time trusting me," They said, "I've never raised a hand at my classmates apart from mock battles, and I've never done anything to harm the heroes."

"..." Aizawa paused for a moment, taking in Y/n's words. Why were they so afraid? Perhaps it was because Y/n was half demon? But that didn't mean anything in their world. No, Aizawa was well aware of the reason, "I'm... I am unable to cancel out whatever powers you possess, Y/n, and therefore unable to control you."

Y/n smiled, "Truth," They said, "I didn't think you'd actually tell me, you know?"

"I couldn't lie to you, Y/n."

"You have before."

"... And I will again," He admitted, "So just accept the information I'm giving you know."

"You can't control me, huh?" Y/n chuckled, "Maybe that's what everyone thinks.. Even back in my own world."

Aizawa visibly recoiled at the mention of Y/n's home, "Your... World," He repeated, "That's right. I had almost forgotten again, you have to go home."

"Yup," Y/n nodded, "I'm not staying here forever, Aizawa."

"I know that, I just..." His voice trailed off. I thought you'd want to stay longer.

"We had a conversation exactly like this in the morning," Y/n observed, "About my home.. it's a reoccurring theme for us, isn't it Aizawa?"

"Oh, right," The pro nodded, "I had forgotten. How are you feeling? You passed out this morning, and your arm was cut off in the first round. You must be tired."

"Don't worry so much, Aizawa," Y/n said, "I'm not fragile. I am perfectly capable of winning this festival."

"I never said you weren't."

"You asked if I was okay."

"That isn't me doubting you, Y/n," Aizawa told them, "It's me- as someone who cares about you- checking in on your wellbeing."

Y/n hummed, "What weird wording," They said, "Someone who cares about me..? Why not just say your teacher, or guardian?"

"Because, Y/n. I don't see you as my student, and you're an adult. You don't have a guardian," He told them, "Think of it as a... friendly gesture."

"Friendly?" Y/n parroted, "I didn't realize you saw us as friends, Aizawa."

"That-"

"I don't mind, Shouta," Y/n shrugged, "Just as long as I don't see you as a friend, I don't mind however you see me."
