Chapter 41

As I left the room, River was getting back on the bed and they were talking about pain, I could feel my heart sink, knowing what Titan did to Opal, she might say she isn’t in pain but I know she is.

I was just about to open the door to the room opposite but stopped when I put my hand on the handle, there were moans coming from within, I had already forgot that I let Pasha and Atlas have the room, I wonder if I can get a dumbwaiter installed in our room?

I went to the kitchen, but the chef had already closed the kitchen down and cleaned it, I wonder if she would let me grab something for River? “Alpha Huxley. How can I help you?”  she said surprised with me standing there “I was looking to get River some more food but it looks like the kitchen is now closed, I will go get her some snacks” “didn’t we send her some food up in the dumbwaiter with some snacks?” “Yeah, but I can’t retrieve it right now, it’s a long story” “ok, what would you like me to make her?” “nothing, you have cleaned the kitchen, don’t make it dirty, I will just get her some snacks” “not a chance, our True Alpha’s mate needs something warm in her, she is still recovering, I've already prepped tomorrow’s lunch, its Sothern fried chicken and halloumi fires, I know River loves halloumi”.

Chef was so fast making Rivers food, I suppose she only had to make one dish, I thanked her and took the up to River.

Pasha and Atlas were still going at it, they were louder than when I walked past earlier.

I walked back in the room, River was sat on the side of the bed with DR Shelley stood in front, when she looked at me, she didn’t look happy, when is she when it comes to me, I wonder if River had told her what Titan did to Opal?

“Huxley, make sure River continues taking her medication, she has told me that she hasn’t taking any today, don't think that now River is in human form, you can stop her meds” “DR Shelley, I told you that there was a break in at one of the shops, so Pasha and Huxley were out most of today” “that’s no excuse, he should have given you then before he left, I will come back in a few days to check on you” “it will have to be after Monday as Huxley is taking us to my old pack so I can introduce him to my Nan” “I hope you are not running, that is to much of a strain on your legs, I know Lycan’s heal quickly but you need more time to rest” “I’m going to ask Pasha to drive us there, I’ve not driven in a while, I don’t trust my driving skills alone to get us there safely” “ok, I will come Monday evening, please look after yourself”, DR Shelley walked up to me “please look after her”  “always” she walked away.

River shuffled back on the bed as I placed her food in front of her, “oh yummy, halloumi fries, my favourite”.

I sat there as she ate her food, she kept offering me some but I wanted her to eat everything, even though the halloumi fries did look really good.

“Oh I’m so stuffed” River said laying back on the bed, I moved the tray off the bed, I needed to get ready for bed but I laid down next to River, using her chest as a pillow and I fell straight to sleep, usually, its River using my chest but I just need to hug her like this, I’ve missed her so much, it was nice with Opal but being with River was something else, I fell asleep almost instantly.

When I woke up, I was in bed alone, the bathroom door was open but the light was off, panic started to set in, I got out of bed and quickly left the room, I almost tripped over, River and Atlas was sat on the floor, giggling about something, “why are you both sat on the floor?” I said relieved, “we are waiting for either you or Pasha to wake up so we can go in, now that your awake we can go in our room”.

The girls got up and went our room, straight onto the bed, but Atlas quickly jumped off the bed, run past me and into her room, then run back and got back on the bed, I was confused but they know what they are doing, I really like how close them to have gotten, in the short time that River has been here, they are like two pees in a pod.

I got changed and told the girls that I will be in the office and to come and grab me when they want breakfast, I didn’t have to much to do, I only had one meeting with Brax tomorrow but I have moved it for when I get back Monday for him and River to officially meet and talk in person, I had to also look into setting right what Victor did.

I didn’t have to wait to long before the girls and Pasha were stood in my office waiting for me “Pasha, I would like to ask you something” “should I be worried?” He answered, “no, but if you say no, I will have to find an alternative way” “ok, ask away” “I would like to take River to see her Nan and also meet her myself, but I would like to ask you if your would drive, I’ve not driven in five years” “definitely, is it ok if Atlas also comes?” “yes, that’s fine, she could also meet your family” “I don’t have a family, I’ve only got Petra, my parents died in the same fight as Rivers parents” “I'm sorry” “its ok, it was a long time ago, Petra still gets emotional around the time of year they died” “sorry again but, the question has a second part to it” “ok” “I would like you to reteach me to drive, its been a while and I don’t feel confident in just jumping behind the wheel, I'm anxious that I will crash” “that's fine, I can do that for you, when we going?” “Later”.

At breakfast I informed the pack that I was going away for a few days but if there’s any issues to contact me, I would only be a few hours run away.
