Huxley turned ravenous, when I was in heat, it put him into a rut, I don’t remember to much of what happened when I was on heat, I just know that there was a hell of alot of sex.

It felt like Huxley took hours to come to me, my body was on fire, I wanted to take all my clothes off, but I wanted to talk to them first, I didn’t want Titan to rush straight to Opal.

“River, River” I heard Huxley call “in here, it’s my heat” there he was stood that the stable door, I want him to have sex with me, right now “yeah, I could smell it from the other side of the farm, what made you go into heat? When we had sex last night, I couldn’t smell anything, oh shit, you smell good, come on, I don’t think I can make it to the pack house” he said coming into the stable, taking his jacket off, “no, Huxley wait, I really want you so bad but Opal promised Titan this heat but she is really scared that what happened with there first time, will happen again”, Huxley got down on his knees in front of me, held my hand and looking into my eyes, “Opal, these are his words, I will never hurt you like that, ever again, you say stop, I will stop, I will promise you that” ‘ok, can we shift now?’ I stood up and started to take my clothes off, “Huxley, shift” he stood up and he didn’t even take his clothes off, he just shifted, letting his clothes scatter the stable floor.

This heat didn’t last as long, just three days, Titan kept to his promise of not to hurt Opal, mostly, the first time they mated in the heat, Titan tried to keep control of himself but he would slip up, making Opal cry, she told him to stop for a minuet and he did, apologising the whole time.

Titan and Opal stayed in the stable until the early hours, they moved to the woods, I didn’t want Asha to see this, wolves mating in heat looks violent.

The heat had past, Opal and Titan was walking back to the stables, when I spotted Brax and Asha in the field, ‘I bet he was scared, I shouted at him’ I said, Opal, lowered her head in shame, ‘Opal, River, don’t be ashamed, going into heat is a natural thing for Lycan’s, Asha is 15 now, he will experience it next year’ Huxley said trying to reassure me, Opal still walked passed with her head down.

There was a note on the stable we were in saying there were some clothes in the tackle room for us, Titan stood guard as I changed, Huxley didn’t care if there was any clothes for him, he doesn’t care who sees him naked, he shows off his body like it’s a badge of honour.

“You hungry?” Huxley said as we walked back to the pack house, holding hands, “I'm starving but I'm more tired” “would you like me to carry you?” “No, I can walk”.

10 minutes later, I was on Huxley’s back, falling asleep.

I woke up in bed, it was still light outside, Huxley sat next to me, tapping away on his phone, “what time is it?” I said, stretching out, making my bones crack, “you alright there? Anything broken?” He laughed, I stretched again “I don’t think so” “its just past 6, would you like some dinner?” “Yeah, I'm starving” I said as I moved to get out of bed, “no, its ok, you can stay and rest, I will go and get it for you” “its ok, my body needs a stretch”.

Huxley and I were eating when Pasha and Atlas came and joined us, she had been crying, please don’t tell me they have lost another pup? Since they have been trying for a pup, they have lost two.

Atlas was smiling through the tears “everything ok? You look happy but also sad” “we don’t want to get our hopes up but we are with pup” “oh wow, I'm so happy for you, I know this one will go full term, I can feel it in my creaky bones” “thanks, I so want to have a pup” she cried “you will, I know it”.

“River, sorry to butt in” “hey Koza, you, ok?” he looked a little rough around the edges, not as clean shaven as he normally looks, “sorry to ask this of you when you have just come of your heat but can you watch Harvi for maybe 10 minutes so I can eat something really quick and get Reed some dinner?” “Yeah, sure, pass him here, take as long as you need” “thank you so much, you have been a life saver for me since I've been here” Koza said passing Harvi to me, “don’t mention it, he is a dream to have, hey Atlas, when you pass your course and become a teacher, Harvi will be your first student”.

Huxley and I finished our dinner before Koza so we took the pup outside before bedtime, “River, you look like a natural with that pup in your arms, let me take a picture” he said holding up his phone and snapping a few shots, “come here, lets take one with the three of us”, he walked over, flipped the camara around and took a few more.

Looking at the screen of the three of us made my heart ache, taking birth control pills is stopping Huxley and I from having a pup of our own, having little family moments like this, “River, why are you crying?” I hadn’t noticed that I had started crying, “I'm fine” I lied, Huxley hugged me, sandwiching the pup in the middle.

“Look at you three, you look like a happy little family” Koza said coming out the pack house, Huxley let me go and said “not just yet, River is still young, she wants the farm to be more self-sufficient before we think about pups, also my past doesn’t help” “shame, you looked happy, I will take him now, it’s nearly the pups bed and I still need to bath them”, I handed Harvi over to Koza, “thanks again for watching him, come on pups bath time, see you both in the morning”.

Koza walked towards the second pack house, Asha started to follow then he stopped in front of me and said “will you be coming back to the farm tomorrow?” “Yeah, I will be there” “good, Brax is boring” then he walked off.
