SAMARA LEWIS FERNANDEZ POV"Samara, hija," my grandfather said when he saw me lying on the couch, crying. "How long are you going to be like this?!" he asked as he sat down beside me.
"Grandpa, I really miss Lane," I sobbed, and I saw his eyebrows rise in surprise.
He placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Is she the person you always mention? The one you say you love?" he asked, and I nodded without thinking.
"I love her so much, but our family has caused her so much suffering!" I shouted, bursting into tears again. My grandfather looked at me with a mixture of pity and concern.
"My dear, can't you just forget about her? There are so many good-looking people here in California who would be eager to be with you, and yet you're still so hung up on that woman?!" He was incredulous. "It's been years already!" he exclaimed.
I shook my head firmly. "She is the only person I want, Grandpa," I said with heartfelt conviction.
My grandfather embraced me tightly and softly patted my shoulder. "I'm so sorry for making this so difficult for you," he said, his voice filled with genuine sympathy. "If this is what you truly want, then I will help you get back to her. But first, we need to make things right."
Tears streamed down my face as I clutched him, struggling to speak through my sobs. "Her mother died because of us, Grandpa. Our family is responsible for her death. It's our fault that Lane was left all alone in the world." My voice broke with the weight of my sorrow. "And my mom-she didn't want us to be together. She threatened me, Grandpa. She made it impossible for us to be together."
I could barely look at him through my tears, feeling utterly consumed by the burden of my regret and anguish. My grandfather's eyes were filled with deep concern as he listened, his own emotions visible as he absorbed the gravity of my pain. The silence between us was heavy, filled with the unspoken understanding of the gravity of the situation.
"We will fix everything," my grandfather said with a calm determination. "I'll make sure your mother and father are held accountable for what they've done to her mother, although her mother was also wrong for loving your father in the wrong time because he's already married with my daughter Sarina, maybe it's my fault too I force them." He said with regret in his tone.
"Sarina is so wrong, for killing her, it's way too much. I'm so sorry for being indifferent all these years, because all I want is to protect the image of your mother. Although she was wrong for committing a sin, she is still my daughter." He emotionally said as his eyes became teary.
"But after all these years, the guilt from that night still haunts me," he said, his voice trembling with regret. "Seeing you now, I realize it's time to make things right. I can't bear to see you suffer because of us. None of this was your fault. It all happened because of too much selfishness and betrayal."
I remained silent, my heart heavy, as I listened to him pour out his remorse.
"Grandpa, I want her back," I said, my words slurred from the alcohol. He hugged me tightly, offering me comfort.
"Leave it all to me, Samara. I'll handle everything for you," he said with reassuring firmness.
After that night, my grandfather Amiro was true to his word. A few months later, I heard from Patrick that he had filed a murder case against my mother, who was now desperately trying to clear her name.
My biological father, meanwhile, was nowhere to be found. Some people said he was dead, but no one really knew for sure. After the incident, my mom and him had lost all communication. It was also his fault that Lane suffered so much.
