Next day, Siddharth and Ruhi reached class at the same time. Last night, they had reached the hostel very late, which led to them waking up just in time, rushing to get ready. As they stepped inside the campus, a strange urgency filled the air. The moment they entered their class, their eyes widened at the sight before them—almost every student was scribbling furiously, their hands moving at an insane speed, as if their life depended on it.
Their hearts sank. A dreadful realization hit them both at the same time.
"Homework?" They turned to each other, eyes filled with panic.
"Bahut thak gayi thi... room pahuchte hi so gayi," Ruhi admitted, her voice barely above a whisper, guilt creeping in.
Siddharth let out a dramatic whimper, ruffling his hair in frustration. "Main bhi! Yaar, problems khatam kyun nahi ho rahi?" He almost sounded like he was about to cry. His face contorted into an expression of sheer horror.
"Dada ne kaha tha ki studies pe effect pada toh saath nahi rehne denge..." he gulped. "Aur Bhai toh hamesha ek tang pe khade rehte hain punish karne ke liye!" His mind flashed with images of Abhishek's disappointed face and Sumedh's merciless punishments.
Before either of them could process their impending doom, the door creaked open. Sumedh strode in with his usual composed demeanor, his sharp gaze scanning the classroom. The chaotic scribbling of pens came to an abrupt halt as every student bolted upright, standing in unison to greet him.
"Good morning, Sir!" They chorused.
Sumedh placed his books on the table, adjusting his sleeves. His expression remained unreadable as he spoke in his usual calm yet authoritative tone, "Sit down."
The entire class heaved a sigh of relief and quickly took their seats.
"Let's complete the last topic quickly," Sumedh continued, his tone carrying a subtle edge of warning. "Phir homework ke doubts lunga."
Siddharth swallowed hard, sneaking a glance at Ruhi. Both of them knew—they were doomed.
Sumedh started explaining the topic, his voice firm and steady, but within minutes, a faint yet persistent sound of hurried scribbling started distracting him. He tried to ignore it at first, but the rustling of pages and the hurried movement of pens against paper were hard to miss.
His brows furrowed as he abruptly stopped speaking and turned towards the class. The moment his sharp gaze swept across the room, the noise ceased instantly. The students sat still, their faces blank with feigned innocence.
He narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything. Instead, he turned back to the board and resumed his explanation. However, barely a minute had passed before the irritating sound of frantic writing started again.
This time, he didn't let it slide. His jaw tightened as he spun around swiftly. His eyes immediately landed on the culprit—a student who was still trying to hurriedly jot things down, unaware of the impending storm.
Sumedh didn't utter a word. He simply placed his book and marker on the table with a loud thud and, in three quick strides, reached the student before anyone could even react.
Before the boy could realize what was happening, Sumedh snatched the notebook off the desk. But as he did, his sharp eyes caught something—the boy had another notebook hidden on his lap. His expression darkened as he swiftly grabbed that one too. Flipping through the pages, his suspicions were confirmed.
"Homework ghar ke liye hota hai, class ke liye nahi," Sumedh snapped, his voice laced with anger as he turned the pages aggressively. "Abhi tu kal ka homework kar raha hai, aur jo abhi samjha raha hoon, kal iska bhi homework copy karega?" His piercing glare bore into the student. "Aur homework khud se karne ke liye diya tha, copy karne ke liye nahi!"
