Da-ah's pov
"Well what did you expect? Two wonyoung's?" My mom said laughing. She can always ruin a good moment.
"No! No! Nothing like that!" The Prince said with wide eyes. "Wonyoung and da-ah are like the Yin Yang symbol in a way. They are two different beings, but they each are complementary to each other." The Prince said.
"Wise words young one." My mom said while nodding.
"Mom! Cut it out already!" I yelled.
"Relax a little Da-ah. If you keep acting so uptight you'll have wrinkles when you're thirty." My mom said while pointing at my forehead.
"Whatever." I said. "Prince please continue."
"Da-ah. you are a wonderful person." He said. "One thing I will say though. I never forgot what you told me the first time I met you. Do you remember?" The Prince asked to me.
"No. Sadly I do not." I replied.
"You told me life is like a bubble bursting. It is here for a split second then it's gone. Those words inspired me to enjoy my life more." The Prince said smiling at me. I blushed.
"That old quote again!" My mom replied. "That's all Da-ah says at home! Bubble burstin this and bubble bursting that!"
"Well it inspired me to make a difference in my life." The Prince said. He then proceeded to look down at his watch. "Unfortunately lunch is over. I had a great time meeting you Rima!" He waved and walked away. My mom quickly stood up.
"Don't call me Rima! Call me Mom!" She yelled. I pushed my mom back down.
"Please act a little civilized." I laughed. We then went back over to Wonyoung and Dad. Their conversation seemed to go well. Dad told me that Wonyoung was referred to as a court jester by the Prince. I guess it is true in some aspects! The maids started to clean up and we left the dining room.
My family started to leave the dining room.
"Well I would love to see your room!" Said my mom.
"Sure let me lead the way!" Da-ah replied taking mom's hand. I walked arm in arm with my dad talking about video games we should play one day.
"I think we should try a horror game!" I told my dad. "Like Five Nights At Freddy's!" I exclaimed.
"Are you kidding me? At my age a horror game could give me a heart attack!' My dad replied.
We both laughed at this. I looked down and to my surprise I was not holding my purse that Dia gave me. Oh no I probably left it in the dining room.
"Hey dad!" I said. "I left something in the dining room. Follow Da-ah she will bring you back! Don't wait up for me!" With that I turned around and ran back to the dining room.
The room was empty and dark. The maids had already finished cleaning up. I looked around and walked over to the table my family was sitting at. I looked under the table and around the center piece. I then looked at my chair. On the seat cushion was my purse.
"There you are!" I said happily. As I reached for it somebody snatched it away. "What the?"
"Looking for this?" A male voice said. I looked at the face and there was Heeseung.
"Yes I actually am. So if you can please hand it over." I begged.
"Nah don't feel like it." He said smiling. Holding the purse up high so I couldn't reach for it. "I'll give it back if you can touch it." He said with a small smile. I tried jumping for it, but it didn't work.
"Oh come on." I replied.
"Hmm how about this. I'll give your purse back to you if you sit down and talk with me for a second." He said while pulling out a chair at the table and patting on the cushion.
"Fine." I replied and sat on the chair. "But make it quick. I got to get back to my family."
"Speaking of your family." Heeseung said pushing out a chair for himself to sit on. "Do you really believe the Prince's reasons for bringing the families here?" He asked me with sincere eyes.
"Yeah." I said. "Doesn't every parent need to meet the person their child is dating?" I replied.
"Yes. But why now you think?" He said not
removing his stare from my face. He fidgeted with my purse."Well probably because there is less of us girls now." I paused. "I really need to get going Heeseung." I whined.
"Yeah." He said sighing. "Wonyoung I care about you a lot and before you go I just want to give you a warning. The Palace is not all flowers and rainbows. It holds many secrets and dangers. You just haven't witnessed them yet. You are looking at the Palace through rose-colored glasses. All the secrets will soon be unmasked. But for now be careful and enjoy your time with your parents because right now it is the calm before the storm. And you are going to be caught up in it." He finished talking and handed over my purse. He then walked away.
"Heeseung! What was that all about?" I yelled out to him. He turned around and smiled.
"You are living in a fool's paradise." He said. He walked away into the shadows of the Palace.
"Weird." I said out loud. Well at least I got my purse back. I unzipped it and looked to make sure everything was still there. I didn't lose anything inside, but I did gain something. There was a note.
Go to the jail in the basement. It's time to uncover the first secret.
Yikes! I'll save that horror story for another day. I think it's time for me to rejoin my family. I started walking back to my room. The walk back was more different than normal.
I guess I just never noticed my surroundings. In the hallways there was more guards then people, security cameras, and all the rooms were locked and said for high ranking personnel only. There was always security cameras I guess.
Those rascals were the main reason I always got punished before. I finally made it to the staircase after jumping at any little noise that was made. What can I say, I'm a scaredy cat! Especially after what Heeseung just told me. I opened my door to hear my family's laughter.
"Wonyoung!" My mom yelled. "What took you so long? We were just discussing how the guards brought us to the Palace and how scared dad was." My mom said laughing.
"Who wouldn't be scared? These tall and muscular guys came up to us and demanded we came with them to see you two." Dad replied.
"Well I thought they were hunky!" Mom said. "I think one of the guy's name was Taehyung? Maybe you should start going to the gym more, Jungkook." Mom said pointing at dad's wimpy arms. He is more of a video game guy.
"I really want to hear this story!" I said joining my family. I sat down next to dad and tried to concentrate on the story, but it was hard to do. Forget everything wonyoung, your family is here. So everything is good.
