"YOU CAN SLEEP on my bed for the night, I'll just take the couch." Ayesha said as she pointed downstairs to where the living room was.

"You sure?" Ellie asked.

"Yeah." Ayesha nodded with a smile.

Ellie forced a smile back before putting her backpack on the bottom of the bed. Then, they went downstairs again.

The whole little house had electricity, shockingly. Ayesha explained that there was a generator down the street that was still working. She figured out some people might used to live here before Ayesha arrived.

The house was very different from the farm, it was modern. A typical californian house. It felt weird for Ellie to see Ayesha in her habitat. California was her. She was California.

"So... Since when have you been living here?" Ellie asked her as she sat on the couch.

"Uh... A year and a half? It was supposed to be temporary, but I might stay here a little more." Ayesha explained.

"Temporary? Why? You were planning on going somewhere?" Ellie asked, with a frown.

Ayesha sighed heavily before sitting down on another little sofa on the corner of the room, she curled up her legs and grabbed her long hair, playing with it.

"I was supposed to leave for Africa... And then walk to Egypt. But it's too dangerous, I'll just stay here." Ayesha nodded.

Ellie quickly understood why Ayesha wanted to leave for Egypt, it was the country her ancestors were from. She probably just want to feel like she belongs somewhere and go where her culture is.

"Yeah, there's a like a whole desert to cross... And you don't know how bad the breakout went there." Ellie pointed out.

"Yeah, exactly... But it's okay, I like it here." Ayesha slightly smiled with a shrug as she looked around.

Ellie watched her. Analyzed her. It's crazy how she was still looking unrealistically beautiful.

"What about you?" Ayesha turned to Ellie, "I hope you took care of my car."

Ellie chuckled before looking down. She nodded and licked her lips.

"Yeah, I did. It's hidden near a farm house I live in with Dina, I still take care of it." Ellie looked up at Ayesha.

Ayesha chuckled.

"How's Dina? And the baby?" Ayesha asked.

Ellie slightly froze, the thought of that night with Dina came into her mind again. She stuttered a few words and Ayesha realized something was wrong.

"It's a boy, his name is JJ. He looks exactly like Jesse." Ellie smiled.

Ayesha smiled, imagining a little baby that had Jesse's eyes and smile.

"And Dina?" Ayesha asked.

"I think she's alright." Ellie shrugged.
