AFTER DRIVING FOR a few days, Ellie and Ayesha found shelter in Idaho, in a little house near the mountains, right next to a lake. They had cleared the surroundings within an afternoon before settling down.

Fortunately, the house had two rooms, meaning they didn't have to sleep in the same bed or room.

"It feels odd." Ellie admitted as she put some apples in a bowl she had found earlier in the day while exploring.

"What?" Ayesha asked.

"That I'll live with you now." She explained.

Ayesha frowned before chuckling before she turned to the auburn haired girl.

"I never forced you to come." Ayesha said.

"You know I didn't mean it like that." Ellie grumbled with an eye roll.

"I know." The brunette smirked.

The brunette woman swore she heard Ellie stifling a laugh as she walked to one of the sofa, sitting on it. It was in a brown leather, it was obvious some people were living here just a few months ago, the house was quite clean.

"What I am saying is... I have spent the past few years despising you and now I'll have to fight the urge not to murder you." Ellie said, clearly joking.

Ayesha frowned with an eye roll as she turned to Ellie, obviously, she wasn't being dramatic, she had every right to want to murder Ayesha.

"Are you suggesting I lock myself up in my room before going to bed so you don't sneak in and cut my throat?"

Ellie slightly laughed before shaking her head as she walked to a chair right in front of the sofa Ayesha was sitting on. She sat down and slid both her elbows on her knees.

"If I wanted to murder you, I would have done it long ago already." She said.

Ayesha squinted before she nodded with a little smile, she looked down, avoiding Ellie's gaze, only looking at her fidgeting with her fingers.

"I want to start trusting you again, and it has to start with tolerating you. I think these are good circumstances to start tolerating you again." Ellie admitted.

"Want to start trusting me again?" Ayesha repeated.

"Yes, want to." She replied.

"Do you want to or do you need to because we'll be living together?" Ayesha snapped.

There was a contrast between needing to trust someone again and wanting to. Needing doesn't mean you particularly want to, it means you do it against your will. When wanting to is the contrary, it means deep down Ellie might want to fix things up.

Ellie thought for a second, though she already knew the answer. She had thought about it a lot for the past few days.

"I want to. I really do." Ellie confessed.

Ellie had analyzed Ayesha's behaviours ever since they met again in Seattle. And somehow, Ellie felt that Ayesha regretted everything.
